The comments below are not correct. There is no quartz port of Mozilla.org's Mac products - only a patch to display IMAGES in Quartz. And the speed improvement is not that great. Everything else besides images is still being rendered in Quickdraw. Keep your pants on - an actual quartz port is a ways off. [alert admin]

LimeWire X 4.0.4 (Mac OS X)
The 4.0.x releases from LimeWire have been great. Big improvement over 3.x.x. The interface is more responsive and results are better than ever. Finally looks like a polished product. For those who are tempted to complain that the application is still too slow, I'd like to point out that LimeWire has a very complex task to do. It has to keep track of a bunch of upload connections, a bunch of download connections, a bunch of search connections, and display data on most of them in real time. On top of that it has to deal with user interaction, sorting/grouping results, and actually downloading/uploading files. LimeWire is probably doing more work on average than any other application on your system (of course there are exceptions, but for the most part this is true). [alert admin]

OmniWeb 5.0 beta 1 (Mac OS X)
This beta isn't very stable. Features are alright, but not that great. Speed is so-so. Summary: eh... [alert admin]

StuffIt Standard Edition 8.0 (Mac OS X)
Stuffit Standard Edition 8 works all around for me. I bet your problems launching applications are because you don't have permission to launch them. I ran into this a while ago with some .sit archives. You need to go into the app package and give yourself (as admin) permission to execute the main binary, and read all the package contents. I don't know why that happens sometimes. If there was compression corruption, it would not just affect applications. A compression algorithm doesn't care what kind of file it's working on. Apple Mac OS X 10.2.8 (Mac OS X)
Another Apple update applies with no problem, but I don't really notice anything new. [alert admin]

Amazing Slow Downer X 2.5.7 (Mac OS X)
of good things about this app, I just personally haven't had a use for it yet... sinthetic... I'll say it again - get over yourself. I doubt Roni Music needs YOU to beta test their stuff. Your attitude sucks and I'm surprised that any company puts up with you. [alert admin]

GNUMail.app 1.1.0pre2 (Mac OS X)
to support this (use, send bug reports, better yet FIX bugs), is that it is open source. If Apple's Mail.app is your only decent option, then they can make you eat any integrated marketing they want (music service, iChat, .Mac...). GyazMail is NOT open source. Its not even freeware any more. This is a nice start... will be great when WebCore is integrated for displaying HTML. [alert admin]

TextForge 1.5 (Mac OS X)
college kid, and I like adding features to my software and fixing bugs more than I like dealing with payment options. I know I lose some sales by only accepting paypal and US mail, but I don't think paying is too hard that way. I respond very quickly. Someday I will probably set up an automated system. For now though, I've got syntax coloring to implement... ;-) [alert admin]

Mellel 1.5 (Mac OS X)
is awesome. I hate Microsoft Word, but I've hated every other word processor I've seen in the last seven years even more. I was blown away after 10 minutes of testing Mellel - I love it! [alert admin]

It is a patch that we wrote to do prebinding since we normally have issues in that area... I doesn't work that well so we disabled it. Firefox still uses it.

You can change the list of links in the dock icon by going to the bookmarks/history manager and right clicking on any collection or folder - there is an option in the contextual menu to change what displays in the dock icon.
