SyncTwoFolders 1.0.4 (Mac OS X)
Great program with potention; suggestions:
This program is great and could/will get much better with age. Here are two things I would like to see added. In the log, sort actions based on some criterion. For example, I would like to see all items copied one way separated from items copied the opposite way, and items replaced separate from items copied. Also in the log I noticed that certain files were to be replaced due to differing modification times, but all of the files should be the same. Maybe add more information so the user can decide what to do. I'm not sure how to implement this, but it's something to think about. [alert admin]

MonitorZ 1.0 (Mac OS X)
All it does is switch between 1 minute and 1 hour. How about some options? Maybe opening it holding down a modifier key, like shift or option, brings up a settings page where you can set the two (or more) values. Promising though. [alert admin]

Lotto Sorcerer X 5.0 (Mac OS X)
I made my own little "lotto" using Mathematica to produce numbers at random. I did two sets of 200 pick 3 games, the first being fair and the second having a higher concentration of 9's. Quite surprisingly, the suggestions for the unfair version had no 9's whatsoever, when the bast strategy would be to have all 9's. The fair version was just pointless since it was just about as random as you can get. The program relies on the "law" that a number can be overdue, increasing its chance if it hasn't shown up in a while. That's like saying if you flip a coin three times and you get all heads, the fourth one is more likely to be tails. If you go to the website you will see a much more convoluted explanation, but that's what it actually boils down to. It's false logic at its best. [alert admin]

Lotto Sorcerer X 5.0 (Mac OS X)
I mean sure, he's trying to get money out of gullible folk who believe that they can hit it big with this kind of application, but consider this: stupid people shouldn't have money, and it's those same people who are going to buy it, thereby losing more money than they are already by playing the lottery. :) Like many before me have said, if it were free then it would be an amusing little app, and it could be fun to see how well it predicted a biased random number generator (using a computer program, not the lottery). But $35? Either it doesn't work, in which case it should be free and could be used for statistical analysis, or it actually does work (hypothetically) and should cost thousands of dollars since in the long run you will be striking it rich anyway. HastalaDS_Store 1.0 (Mac OS X)
Good idea, but could be better implemented
The .DS_Store files are not unnecessary and useless. If they really were useless then they wouldn't be created in the first place. That said, I agree that they can be annoying. However, stopping them completely isn't the best way to go. I think you should be able to have them be created on some volumes and not others. The startup volume is a good place to have them always be created, for example. [alert admin]

All it does is list up to 35 Fibonacci numbers. And it takes a lot longer than it should. I mean it took more than 9 seconds on an 867MHz G4 PowerBook to calculate all 35. Using Mathematica it took well under a tenth of a second for the first 100. And why list it on VersionTracker if it has no real use? I don't mean to be mean, but this is not the place for an application you just built for the sake of making an application to do something so simple. [alert admin]

PheniX 1.3.2 (Mac OS X)
It works, but it's very crude. I like it though. It's a good start at least. [alert admin]

early 12" PowerBooks not supported
It would be nice to have a more complete list of supported computers. However, the installer does checks your computer for compatability before installing, a very nice touch. [alert admin]

GPULife 1.0 (Mac OS X)
I don't think it's working right for me
All I get is more and more white dots on a black background, no colors, no death. I am familiar with the Life concept, and I assume that it just isn't working right for me. I have a 12" PowerBook with a GeForce4 MX card, 32MB VRAM, running a fresh installation of Tiger, OpenGL version 1.4.0. [alert admin]

and it will be a whole lot simpler. It can't differentiate between the internal speaker and headphones, but that's because nothing can. If you take the time to learn how to use Detour effectively and you don't just pretend you know everything then it does work. It may not be the prettiest program out there, but who cares? It works, and that's the bottom line. [alert admin]

that's supposed to say potential. Bug: when the log is displayed my CPU monitor was at full for no apparent reason. When I closed the log it went back down.

There is a reason for the startup chime. ![]()

Sometimes people don't want the startup chime for various reason. For example, my laptop once kernel panicked on me in class. I didn't want to disturb the class so I wasn't able to use it anymore that day. Had I been able to mute the startup chime I would have been able to resume use of the laptop.

This is exactly what the author is looking for. People like you who think that forking over the money for this sort of app will pay off in the long run. The fact is, by buying the program, you are not only losing the cost of the program, but you may be inclined to spend more money by buying lotto tickets more often. I wouldn't be surprised if the app were supported…

Instead of complaining that an app won't start as you describe, try repairing permissions (if you don't know how to do so, it's in Disk Utility). I've experienced this problem many, many times with various people and computers who claim that an application won't work on their computer, and only one time it was true and the developer was quick to fix it. But thanks for not giving it a one star review.

I think he means he wants to be able to change it from the dock. I'm pretty sure it would be possible to make an app that, when running, uses very small amounts of memory and virtually no CPU time, but you can right click it in the dock and change it from there. It would be similar to a menu item, but in the dock.

So it didn't work for you. But it works for other people, like me. But of course if it doesn't work for you it deserves 1 star for all the ratings. Maybe you should try repairing your permissions or figuring out what you are doing wrong.

Not only is in not there on desktops, you can't just switch processor performance. You can select "Better Energy Savings" or "Better Performance," but that changes more than just the processor performance.

You mean too little fox news Seriously though, updates keep coming because the developer is continuously adding new features that most people will never notice. Every new update is a feature addition, not a bug fix as some people believe. Ideally, you could just go to the X-Plane website and only update when a feature is useful to you.
