Admittedly it took a few weeks to wrap my head around this program. But once it clicked in my head I realized just how simple it really is. The beauty of this program is it tracks every penny and shows you where your money is going. I love it. Like I said there's a learning curve but it's definitely worth it. Visting the forums and asking questions helped. And the designer was great about answering my questions almost immediately. ANd to be honest any problems I had learning the program were mostly my bad. I hate to read manuals and documents and only skimmed over the Budget docs when setting up my account. If I had done a better job reading things first I would have probably worked things out sooner. I still use Quicken but only as a fall back just in case. But with each month my confidence in Budget is growing in leaps and bounds. [alert admin]

Microsoft Virtual PC 7.0.2 (Mac OS X)
I use Virtual PC to run various mapping/GPS software including Garmin's MAPSOURCE. This requires I use a USB/PDA adapter. Every is stable and is working smoothly with this upgrade. VPC has been one of the best investments I've ever made as far as software. No need to buy a PC here. yes it can be slow sometimes. But it's emulation software. Just comes with the territory so it's not biggy. Gets the job done and that's what I'm all about. [alert admin]

I used to LOVE this program and couldn't live without it. Than I discovered my G4 powerbook was molasses slow compared to my wife's powerbook. After poking around I discovered Fruit menu was the culprit. (my wife doesn't use it). Uninstalling Fruit Menu made things snappy again. Just a plain simple fact. I tried the new version and same thing. With Fruit Menu there's a delay when opening folders and pulling down menus. Not the end of the world but it's give and take. So Fruit Menu comes off my system again. Hopefully they'll fix the speed issues. (Program seemed to work fine prior to Tiger). [alert admin]

CalorieKing Desktop Diet Diary 3.1.6 (Mac OS X)
I'm a little annoyed with this program. It's a GREAT start but it doesn't track sugar or even provide information on sugar in its database. Which makes it nearly useless to me as a type II diabetic. I was excited when I first started using it but zero info on sugar. Not even listed in the help file. What an oversight. I'll still use and hope they add to the feature but it would have been nice to have such info integrated into the program. Kind of tough to plan my diet/food plan without having that bit of info. Just seems like something they would have added. [alert admin]

StuffIt Deluxe 10.0 (Mac OS X)
Looks like I'm alone so far but LOVE the new version. Seems to be working fine for me. THe spotlight support and Automator tools in my opinion made the 'paid update' justified. If you don't need them stick with version 9. which also worked as advertised from my experience. That's my two cents anyway. [alert admin]

Griffin PowerMate X 1.6 (Mac OS X)
I was having problems with iTunes constantly crashing after upgrading to Tiger. Was driving me nuts. I thought it might be bad memory. To make a long story short I finally did a fresh install of Tiger and added my third party apps/haxies one at a time while testing iTunes. After installing powermate 1.6 - Boom! Itunes crashed within 2 minutes. I uninstalled it and everything is back to normal. I have a dual processor MDD which may make a difference. I don't know. But until there's an update my Powermate goes on the shelf. [alert admin]

Tiger Cache Cleaner 3.0.1 (Mac OS X)
THis could be a false alarm...
Spotlight slowed to a crawl after running this app on two machines. I reset and reindexed. Ran Tiger cache cleaner again and same thing. Anyone else seeing this? I'm wondering if cleaning the caches or possible prebinding is somehow screwing up spotlight's data/index. It could be a coincidence. Just curious if anyone is noticing this. [alert admin]

FruitMenu 3.4 (Mac OS X)
Yep, something has gone terribly wrong with this update. Fruitmenu has always worked flawlessly for me. But after updating to Tiger I soon began to notice some serious lag time when clicking on the menu. Espeically the apple logo. I thought it was a quirk of Tiger until I was using my wife's powerbook (which doesn't have fruitmenu installed) and I saw just how fast her menus were. I have no doubt this will be fixed but PLEASE fix it soon. It's annoying. [alert admin]

ShowOff Widget 1.0 (Mac OS X)
I've always wanted something like this. My powerbook sometimes runs for week without a reboot and that's usually because I've upgraded my os or installed software. Fun little widget. [alert admin]

deben I think it's unfair to give it a two stars because it won't print business checks. Read the description. "Budget is a personal finance application" Keyword here "PERSONAL". It does exactly what it says.

VPC 6 runs fine on Panther. In fact I think it runs better than VPC7 (which I just upgraded to). VPC7 seems to have more issues with updating the screen on my G4 then VPC6 did. My guess is VPC7 is optimized for G5's. If you have a G4 I don't think it's worth upgrading.
