HexEdit 1.8 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
crashes when trying to unstuff the darn thing. I've never seen that happen before. .. Fred, I would use Hex Editor, but it doesn't have a compare files option, so it's useless to me. The version of HexEdit I have now (1.7.5) does have Compare Files, but it's *extremely* slow (2 hours to compare 10 MB on an iMac 350, OS X), that's why I wanted to try 1.8 out. Oh well, I'll just whip up my own compare files method in RB. [alert admin]

much better than sherlock except that it can search removable media that are removed (like DiskTracker(?) can). You guys *do* realize that Sherlock can index files also? [alert admin]

it's rather fun the way it is, it may not be perfectly realistic, but it's still really really fun (until you beat it). [alert admin]

for chess, it doesn't save games, can't do en passant, can't take a move back, can't tell what the last move was, non-intuitive castling interface.. .and on and on... use chessworks if you play chess [alert admin]

out how to play with another human being. I added them to the Player List, but the computer still demands to play. [alert admin]

most software can't "mess up" your computer... the fact is that a non-hacking-the-system app, such as TextEdit, cannot create "conflicts" with other software. I'd put a majority of apps in this category. Be very wary of any system hacks, or anything that requires a kext to be installed... [alert admin]
