iDupe 2.2.2 (Mac OS X)
This is a very well designed and well thought-out application. After upgrading my Mac and basically just archiving my iTunes off and moving them over to my new machine, I started to see duplications. Trying to manage this manually is just too much so I left it alone. When Leopard came, I upgraded my system but for some reason, my iTunes list was now 3x of what the actual song lists were. I had to go in and clean that up considerably and after realizing that this is really an impossible task manually, I looked for a solution such as scripts, plug-ins and other tools and after trying several others, I came across iDupe - wow, wish I had just started with this one. iDupe takes a little getting used to. I started with my trial very cautiously and selected 10 different song tracks, all of which had at least 3 duplicates. Manually I could observe this few and monitor the tool. The "Report" tab is really awesome. Once you've had iDupe scan the selected songs for duplicates, you can review the log in the Report tab and if everything looks good, have iDupe remove the duplicates. Well, watching this manually and observing the entries in the "Report" tab pays off. It matched what I watched when the process occurred and only had to manually delete about 15 songs from the entire list because I had modified the information in those songs manually. After weeding out roughly 2/3rds of my lists (4500+ down to 1500) in about 30 minutes, I was really happy. This is really a well designed and well built application with serious considerations of the process to carefully and properly remove duplicates. Its well worth the $8 Shareware fee! I highly recommend this application to anyone who has duplicate entries in their iTunes library! [alert admin]

EasyEnvelopes 1.0.5 (Mac OS X)
I'm a huge fan of lightweight applications and helpful tools that get the job done intuitively and efficiently. This applet does both in a really clean and useful way. I'm not a big fan of kicking off a word processing document just to print an envelope so i'll more than likely just hand write it. After coming across this, I'm going to use it all the time now - what a really awesome and well written tool! Very simple, very elegant guys, my hat's off to you for such a well thought out applet! Groupcal 3.86 (Mac OS X)

I'm sure others have had some success but after multiple attempts at using this tool, I have to add it to my scrap pile of unusable software. Its unfortunate and I don't blame Snerdware entirely but hold Microsoft accountable for force-feeding their user communities with an inferior product and expecting the world to embrace it. In my work environment, I have to interact with Exchange and will have anywhere from 3 to 8 calendar events added or changed every day. This has caused me extreme angst in that GroupCal appears to work just fine for a few days then all of a sudden, it will stop working and go into a sync-loop of sorts and never update recent changes. All that ends up occurring is my reinstalling GroupCal two, three and four times to get it to work but then Sync Services raises its ugly head and I somehow and for some unknown reason end up getting all 343 calendar events to dump out of my iCal but half of which stay in Exchange - go figure. Between Exchange and GroupCal, I'm going to dump both of them and go into Exchange through Outlook Web Access (OWA) to manually delete each of the 343 events and start all over. I wish I could bill somebody for this time because its sure costing me peace of mind and sleep. JimN Murphy, TX [alert admin]

I've used this product several times over the last several months and am impressed with the interactive and intuitive design and ease of operation. When using this tool in the past, I've had smaller PST files and don't recall what version of PST I was using in the past but I've had significant issues with the last conversion. My primary issue is that while it appeared that all of my folders, calendar and contacts were converted, some of the files ended up being corrupt and there is no way to correct this after the fact. Probable reasons for this in my estimation and based on feedback from Little Machines, to get optimal results, be sure your Outlook is set to Offline so no message transferring occurs; ensure you've run the Inbox Repair tool "SCANPST.EXE" against both your PST and OST files to ensure any corruption within these files are corrected. I'd also recommend you take it to the next step and "Compress" each PST and OST file to ensure its optimized before you run O2M. Something else that may be a factor but I can't verify this is the size of the folder itself. There may be an issue with folder size based on the feedback from Little Machines but in my case, I had corrupted files of all sizes. My .ICS exported file was corrupt the last time I did this and the only way I can think this would occur is because I wasn't offline when I did the export. My prior use of this tool has been successful and I've had no issues with any of the features. This particular time I've got a bit of different implementation of Outlook that I think is why it was impacted. [alert admin]

I personally have used Quicken since the mid-80's when it was on two floppy disks and have used it ever since up until I switch from Windows to Mac 2 years ago. I must say that I'm very disappointed and have been in communication with them several times over the very things many have posted here. They seem very content with producing Windows versions and providing updates but have tried to cram way to many features, bells and whistles to the product and forgot about what software efficiency is and bloated the code to add features upon features. I've written to them about this and the fact that even though they taut significant improvements, their actual improvements are minor and the features get in the way of functional efficiency. I too also had difficulty with rebates at Intuit and have received notices that my submitted information was incomplete but since I've worked the rebate programs for many years, I've learned to scan copies of all receipts, serial numbers, box labels and bar codes that I send in complete fashion. I've resent my rebate and ended up getting a letter telling me that the originals needed to be sent. Of course they kept my originals and now that I no longer had them, I couldn't process the rebates. Bottom line, after being an avid user of Quicken for more than a decade, I quickly became disillusioned with their products for Mac and have been hoping for an alternative to come along. I've worked with iBank, http://www.iggsoftware.com/ibank/index.php and it seems like a good tool for the money but I've not settled on that. I've gone to low-tech and started back to using a paper ledger instead of keeping my books on my computer. I won't buy another copy of Quicken - sorry Intuit, your intuition was wrong, people do want a friendlier, simpler to use checkbook program that performs well, particularly on a Mac! Cheers! I thought I'd try Hear since I'm somewhat of an audiophile and played around with the various settings. It was fun to play with but the audio wasn't great. I have a fairly nice Altec Lansing audio system at home that my Mac is connected to through Griffin's iMic USB adapter. In all, I'd rate Hear at about 2.5 out of 5 stars and not sure why they've received higher. One…
