Check Off 4.0.1 (Mac OS X)
I have built-in to-do lists in Mail and in iCal. To have it in the menu bar is nice, but I think $13 is too much considering the redundant nature of to-do's. I liked the old interface better, and the big old icon too. Good luck though, and thanks for the previously free app which I kept trashing and re-downloading for some reason. [alert admin]

OnyX 2.0.5b1 (Mac OS X)
Joel Barriere is a wonderfully talented developer and an obviously very giving person. If we think of all the times his app has saved us from trouble, we might be inclined to send a few dollars via paypal to support his efforts. He really is something special ... I've used all iterations of Onyx over a period of many years, and only a few times did a "hiccup" occur - never a disaster. Keeping up with every path change and OS update, plus doing it all in a tongue not native to him... that's moxie, and that's real talent. A 5-star app from a 10-star developer. Word up, Joel! iNotePad 2.4.2 (Mac OS X)
It's the best so far. May I ask; is anyone else having problems settings and maintaining transparency? I can do without it but it would be nice to take the settings down a notch. The transparency slider doesn't seem to want to hold the setting. Other than that, GREAT! [alert admin]

This may just be the one. Every task run successfully except boot and kernel delete which I did not do. Also - Firefox history not deleted by cache delete. Otherwise, smashing. Spot on. [alert admin]

TinkerTool System 1.87 (Mac OS X)
I've used it for a year now and it has been trouble-free. It warns you if you're going to do something questionable, it has never froze, it really does empty caches, and it rebuilds the db before it restarts. Bravo. In the pipe 5 by 5. [alert admin]

Leopard Cache Cleaner 4.0.12 (Mac OS X)
Do not run Update LS Database. Finder did not relaunch, had to unplug. Ouch. Whole DB messed up. Bad code in there somewhere. [alert admin]

Leopard Cache Cleaner 4.0.12 (Mac OS X)
I like LCC and the new version seems OK so far. I'll give my rating when I have tried out all the functions on OSX 10.5.4. The makers of LCC seem right on top of the update game, and they are obviously doing a pretty good job of it. To the point: Under the "MAINTAIN" menu, there's a new (?) option called "Repair Home Folder ACL". Wow am I scared of ACL's! When I used OSX's Disk Utility to repair permissions after the install of 10.5.4, I noticed there was a new ACL, on my application folder. I tried all my apps and everything seems to work so far. So my question is two-fold: a) Should I worry about the ACL on my Apps folder, and b) should I run the "Repair Home Folder ACL" ? Thanks to anyone who can answer this. (Version 4.0.12) Also, is there a specific reason why there's a definite time lag between when I'm asked for my password and enter it (sudo) and the execution of the script? Sometimes it feels like a freeze. All in all, though, you guys are headed towards a 5-star app, with a bit of work still needed on the interface. Yes, it's true. Mac lovers are so into appearances... Beware of VT's star averages ("This version" and "All Time")
I would hope that most of the users here are Unix-savvy enough to make informed and valid judgements without having to use an app for a month. You do have a point though about the star averages, though, as they are skewed and flawed seriously by over-zealous cheerleaders or naysayers. Clix went through the same thing, and it's still a good app. Wow, you'd have thought Rixstep had killed the Pope.

gee thanks bashar... this is the best mac utility, but...
No one seems to know what an empty password is. And I was right. You say, and I quote: "this is the best mac utility, but the devoloper is refusing to fix the log in password problem, its the only software on the mac ever to refuse blank passwords...." So it's the best. Wow! Then you give it one star, and mysteriously call it "the only software on the mac ever to refuse blank passwords...." I am not…

Always Amiss on One Thing or Another
It's like a Democratic National Debate in here! And just as civilized! When you use new software, ANY software, there are risks. Freeware is riskier, but there are exceptions (Adobe, anyone?) and I know that the developer of Onyx is seriously committed to his app. He goofed. He's fixing it. It's free. Lighten up. And mainly: run ANY software at your own risk - that's why that EULA is in the front there. If you have…

The developer, lazy? Password problem? The only problem here is that you seem to be too lazy to enter your password. LCC is a good product that does its job. It asks for a password for a reason, and that reason is to protect you and your system. You can change your password, by the way, in sys prefs. Make it really short! - Peace!

As a 58 year old Jewish American woman who lost family members in the Bergen Belsen labor camp and also in Birkenau, I can assure you there's nothing funny about the word to me. I don't care about Jerry Seinfeld or PC or anything you use as an excuse. It will never be on my Mac. It is an offense.
