WebnoteHappy 1.3.3 (Mac OS X)

Great product - family license available, too

I've used this product for over two years, and it's open on my computer about 98% of the time. One click on the bookmarklet in Safari or Firefox's bookmarks bar sends the URL and the page title to your WebnoteHappy file as a webnote, and you can instantly assign searchable keywords to the note. Press another keystroke, and the bookmark is sent to your delicious account. Double-clicking a webnote opens it in your default browser. I only wish I could easily copy _both_ the URL and web page title from the WNH webnote to, for example, a Mail window. (Only the URL copies with drag and drop.) In addition, copying (or dragging) more than one webnote and web page title at a time would be great, too. Control-clicking on a webnote to choose the browser would make this application perfect. (I've not asked the developer for these features - yet. The family license (for only 20% more than the single-copy license) makes it an even better buy. [alert admin]

Adobe Flash Player 9.0.28.0 (Mac OS X)

Permissions repair helped

I've been working on a client's machine where "you don't have the Flash plug-in installed" appeared after installation and redirection to: http://www.macromedia.com/software/flash/about/index.html Uninstalling and reinstalling had no effect. The solution? Repairing permissions with Disk Utlility. Then I ran the uninstaller (look on the Flash Player Support Center), and reran the installer, and everything worked. [alert admin]

webXkiosk 1.3 (Mac OS X)

Not buggy for me - I've used it successfully for over a year.

For me, not buggy in the least. For over a year, I've used it with 10.3.x on Blue and White G3/350 and G4/400 towers for use as kiosk computers for new university students to get to an email registration page, and it works like a charm. I have not tested it with Tiger - and have no need to, at this point. The only time these machines are down is when I have to replace a PRAM battery. [alert admin]

iCal2Web 2.6.1 (Mac OS X)

Solid, useful, fast, and with great support

I use it to combine eight iCal personnel calendars into one and publish it on my web site for my co-workers to reference. On occasion, I've had to email the author about correcting a dinky formatting issue, and he's not only responded quickly, but managed to fix the problem, too. Since iCal2Web interacts with the included HTML files, you can tweak them to fit your specific needs if you have the inclination and expertise. At $8, it's a bargain for me, and I'm sure many can push the capabilities of the product far beyond the way that I'm using it. [alert admin]

Auction Listing Creator 6.5.2 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Works great, fine support, updates forthcoming as eBay changes

I've owned this for over two years, and I've been very happy with the program and what it does - it makes nice ads and lets me change layouts easily if I need to, and it stores my particulars. The author's support and general policies (whether retrieving a lost serial number, or updating the program at no charge when eBay has made some internal change) has been exemplary, particularly when another eBay program I owned - which was much more expensive - charged an expensive upgrade licensing fee when his program was rendered useless by an eBay category change. To a previous reviewer - audioaquatic - I believe that the author has sold over 1000 items on eBay, so he certainly has experience as an ebay seller. At $10, this is a bargain. [alert admin]

MyAccounts 4.42 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

.sitx file now opens, and I like this program and support

The good download if you're a Mac OS X user is at http://homepage.mac.com/robinmh/.cv/robinmh/Public/MyAccounts4.42.sitx-binhex.hqx . (If you just navigate to the download folder, the .sitx file is the one you want - it's clear that the author has had file transfer or posting problems at .mac.) I like MyAccounts, and the author has worked hard to keep it updated. (The bug I experienced with the program failing to open affected me in version 4.41, and Robin and I exchanged emails about how to fix it.) I'm now a registered user, because the program is easy to use and the information it gives me in keeping a budget for a non-profit school group is all I need. I considered designing a template in FileMaker Pro or Excel, and I've investigated a few other inexpensive budgeting programs at VersionTracker, but MyAccounts takes care of the essentials easily for me. It's clear that the author has had file transfer problems at .mac, but version 4.42 (with the .SITX extension) at .mac now works for Mac OS X users.
