Relationship Completer 1.1.0 (Mac OS X)

Love it!

This is a great little Address Book plugin that really works great for me. Works fine under 10.5 (now using 10.5.2 and no problem, ever.) I use it all the time, especially to link managers and assistants. Right-clicking the field title in the address book card brings up the option to complete the inverse relationship in the other card -- really neat!! I'd like an easy way to add new relationship types. I think there is an config file someplace that you can do that with some manual editing, but I've never experimented with it, All in all, a fantastic little plugin!!! Five stars. [alert admin]

SuperDuper! 2.1.4 (Mac OS X)

Best backup, incredible support

This is absolutely the easiest-to-use, most thorough backup solution I have ever tried (and I've tried a bunch). Furthermore, the support is great: sent in a problem report and got a response in less than 5 minutes!!! Unbelievable!! You'll love it. Five-plus stars! [alert admin]

Data Guardian 1.1.6 (Mac OS X)

Great product, responsive developer

Just want to say how good a product this is. I use it maintain all my software license information. I find it very easy to use and very flexible. Also want to mention that the developer is very responsive to bug reports, taking time to walk through the issues in detail by email. He produced a brand new release fixing a problem I was having less than 24 hours. [alert admin]

oXygen XML Editor 8.0 (Mac OS X)

Fabulous XML editor

I've been using oXygen (now Oxygen) for several years. With this 8.0 release it has every feature of its main competitors (now including grid view) and numerous, superbly well-thought-out features that are entirely lacking in competitive products costing many times as much. Oxygen is truly cross-platform; I've personally used the Mac, Win, and Eclipse versions (Linux is also available) and they are utterly seamless. The list of great things about this product would fill pages, but let me just highlight the truly unbelievable responsiveness of the development team. The folks who develop this product know the XML landscape as well as anyone in the world, and working with this product you end up becoming part of a global family of Oxygen users that includes many of the top XML minds in the business. I'm just a regular customer with no special qualifications, but the lead developer of this product once called me from Europe just to let me know I had slightly overpaid an upgrade fee, and by the way did I have any suggestions for the next release! I'd give Oxygen six stars if I could! [alert admin]

Edgies 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Outstanding notepad-style app

This is a lovely little stickies-style app, which uses a fantastically well thought-out UI. Any or all edges of your screen (you decide which) become "hot-spots". When the cursor dwells on the screen edge (you decide how long), an index tab pops out. If you click it, it blossoms into a sticky note (you define how big, what color, how transparent). You type your note, then click elsewhere and the note retracts into the screen edge, leaving the index tab showing, with the note title or date/time (you define). You can dismiss notes with or without archiving them. The developer is very responsive to user comments and requests, and is a real perfectionist. I've used it since the early betas, and it has improved with every release. This is the first "official" release, and I expect it to continue to get better---but not more complicated: its simplicity is the great thing about it !! I've tried just about every "quicknotes" app out there, and this one is definitely the best by far!! Get it, you won't regret it. [alert admin]

Shimo 0.8.1 (Mac OS X)

Great idea, nice work so far

I also hate the interface of the Cisco client. I just installed 10.4.7 and I thought that the improved support for Groups in the native OS X VPN client would allow me to dump Cisco, but no such luck. Then today I discover this nice little app. Worked the first time no problem. Interface very Mac-like. I also agree we could do without the Dock icon. Some problems with the Preferences>Profiles>Edit dialog -- clicking OK following edit fails to close dialog. Also seems to have problem accessing Keychain for stored passwords. This app has great possiblities and I am very enthusiastic. With a bit more work I would upgrade my rating. [alert admin]

PopChar X 2.3 (Mac OS X)

Great program, just keeps getting better

I've been using PopChar ever since the days of OS Classic. This program is itself a classic of its genre. I do a scientific writing and I often need math/science symbols. PopChar is absolutely the best program of this type. The developer has been adding features at a steady rate for many years. It's solid, it does exactly what it claims to do with no fuss or bother. I highly recommend it! [alert admin]

ChronoSync 3.0 (Mac OS X)

Just what I was looking for

Bought this within minutes of downloading the demo. Has all the features I was looking for in a backup utility. Especially happy I can do totally transparent cross-platform (Win/Mac) synching. [alert admin]
