SOHO Notes 6.0.1 (Mac OS X)

I hate bashing software, but...

I don't think I have a choice here. I'm heartbroken. I used Sticky Brain and then Soho Notes for years and loved it, but what the company seems to have done to this is criminal. First, they killed their forums, so if you have a problem, you have to email them and then wait five days for an answer. That's useless if you really need a program to be working. With 6.0, the software just takes over my computer. Even after canceling sync and restarting, it still is accessing my drive, slowing everything down. Then, when I looked at all my notes, I found that it had copied them over and over again, sometimes there were five and six dupes of the same note. How awful. I'm now a Yojimbo user. [alert admin]

Shufflepuck 1.0 (Mac OS X)

I'm really enjoying this...

I was a big shufflepuck fan, so it's great to see air hockey on the mac again. The game still needs some refinement, but it's fun to play, and with this new version I even won a game. [alert admin]

iEmulator 1.7.9 (Mac OS X)

Does exactly what I need it for

I'm a baseball fan, an specifically of Diamond MInd Baseball, which is solely a Windows based program. I bought Iemulator to run it. The installation for Iemulator are a model of what a manual should be. They take you step by step through what would normally be a hair-pulling process and made it a fairly easy. The price is reaosnable, and everything works as it is supposed to. What more can I say, except when I had a question about something the company responded almost immediately. [alert admin]

Papyrus 12.51 (Mac OS X)

just a follow-up....

to my previous note. the developer has since contacted me several times and has been very helpful. They also assure me that spotlight support is on the way. It remains a slow registration process, but I have to say the more I use this program (just for word processing) the more I appreciate its logic and flexibility. They have built into it features that make things just really easy, and I especially like the ability to attach comments to highlighted material. In fact, the ease with which you can do this, is the main feature that attracted me, and I find I use it all the time. [alert admin]

1Passwd 2.3.7 (Mac OS X)

wow, love it...

I've had such trouble with autofill in Omniweb. this solved it. Autofill now works perfectly, easy and with one click just like it should. Yeah, you pay for it, but if it makes my life a little easier and let's me use and enjoy omniweb without having to wait for them to address the problem that's fine. plus, great fast response to queries. Papyrus 12.51 (Mac OS X)

It is an excellent program...

but, for $99 you'd think the developer would respond to at least one of my queries. I think this is a first for me: just being ignored while I'm standing here waiting to pay. Too bad, I love the word processing program and would consider it an excellent alternative to other osx choices. The problem I'm having so far is that it doesn't seem to offer Spotlight support. I've emailed about this, but alas, no answer. [alert admin]

FlyGesture 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

I've been experimenting with it..

and I can't figure out how it is more productive than simply going to the dock and clicking. First, you have to hit F1 on the keyboard to activate it, and then memorize all these moves with the mouse. It's a fascinating idea, but I can't figure out the benefit of it. [alert admin]

iVideoMail 1.011 (Mac OS X)

neat little program

it works just fine. just know that after you install it, you'll see the option to add it to your toolbar only after you click on new message or reply to message. you won't see it when you just open the main mail window. this was pointed out to me by the developer, who must have set some kind of record for the fastest response to a question. iList Data 3.1 (Mac OS X)

I love being able to support small companies

that put out fine shareware programs, and this is one of them. After downloading this program, I immediately got into a dialogue about it with the programmer, and he couldn't have been more helpful or responsive, but the fact is there wasn't that much to say. I needed an inexpensive but logical database to catalogue a few thousand documents I've obtained for a book I'm writing. Ilist does exactly what I need, easily and perfectly. It's customizable, logical, reliable, with a short learning curve. Plus, I get to give my money to some decent folks. [alert admin]
