D2X-XL 1.14.19 (Mac OS X)

Problem with DMG

I cannot get the image to open - it fails with error -4960 Otherwise, the improvements have been impressive. v1.14.XX shows some serious improvements. [alert admin]

Splash 'n' Dash 1.0 (iPhone)

This is evil

I can't stop playing. At some point it's obvious my eyes/brain can't do it as well, but as time goes by, I seem to be getting better at it. Great game. Simple. Insidious. Brings one to their knees. [alert admin]

D2X-XL 1.13.44 (Mac OS X)

Download File Not Where it's Advertised for Download

Great game, great dedication to the code of the game. When trying to download the file for the Mac PPC version, I get: "Not Found The requested URL /downloads/d2x-xl-osx-1.13.44.dmg was not found on this server." This also happened for the previous version 1.13.39 To get the download, one must go to: -http://sourceforge.net/projects/d2x-xl/- and go to the downloads area. [alert admin]

D2X-XL 1.9.129 (Mac OS X)

Even with the glitches, it's a favorite

For a while there were no updates for the OSX version - which was annoying as the version crashed on my own system (G4/1Ghz/1.5gb/10.4.8) and I had to use an earlier version. But this is a herculean task being done by a very small production staff (1, right?) and all I can say is I could never be that deeply immersed in playing the game, much less in maintaining the code. Right now, it's still a bit squirrely with the Intro movies - they're choppy. But I'm usually <Esc>ping them anyway, so no problem. For now, things seem to be fairly stable, though I would expect the mouse to work on selecting the front game menu items. As is, they only work on the sublevel menus. (Not Configure, New Game, Load Game, etc.) So perhaps there are minor issues and once I locked it up firing the gatling gun at the bot guarding the prisoners D2/L1, but it didn't lock the system and could Force Quit and restart. D2X-XL 1.5.128 (Mac OS X)

Once I got going...

This is great. I've always liked Descent and now I get to play it again - and on Tiger, no less! I had to fiddle with it just a bit - I think the 'data' folder needs a lower case title - after that it was working ok. I've been adjusting it and I'll see if I can't make the joystick work with it soon - if not, the keyboard is the way I used to play it. It takes a lot of intense work to convert something like this, even with flaws. That one person did it, well, even if there were a flaw or two, it's still worth the price of the donation. Is it better than D2X? It seems to play a bit better, but I'd have to evaluate them more thoroughly to give a definitive opinion. Thanks, great job! [alert admin]

I wanted to point out - I didn't rate it five for support. I know nothing about the support - didn't ever need it. Probably ought to be a five, looking at it that way.
