MenuTunes 1.7.2 (Mac OS X)

Ditched Synergy

I ditched Synergy now to go with this, but I hope they are still updating it since it seems there are a few glitches. [alert admin]

FontAgent Pro 4.0.2 (Mac OS X)

problems with 10.5.5?

Since installing the Mac OS 10.5.5 update I can no longer get FAP 4.0.2 to run, it crashes immediately after launch. Reinstalling the OS and FAP did not help. Insider has yet to respond to my support request in over a week. [alert admin]

VLC media player 0.9.3 (Mac OS X)

A little buggy

Since 0.9.2 VLC has been much slower and buggier than before. For instance, skipping ahead in the video often results in a black screen or the audio continues and it takes about 10 seconds for the video to catch up where before skipping was instantaneous. Otherwise I would give it 5 stars. [alert admin]

FontAgent Pro 4.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Works for me

Installed with no problems. The help systems states these as the changes for 4.0.2 - 1. Added keyboard commands for Actvate, Deactivate, Import, Export, Show in Finder and New Smart Set. 2. Improved import and verification engine. [alert admin]

VLC media player 0.8.6d (Mac OS X)

Still glitchy in Leopard

Player window still has issues with the progress bar being blanked out when in smaller window sizes, plus I still find movies skip and stutter too much since moving the Leopard. [alert admin]

RealPlayer 11 build 631 (Mac OS X)

Buggy

The main bug is the program freezes for a few minutes if you click to skip ahead in your movie. Going back to version 10. [alert admin]

Quay 1.0b5 (Mac OS X)

Nearly perfect!

Works great. Only thing I would suggest is the ability or at least an option for it to work like the pre-Leopard dock, where I regular click opens the folder and right-click makes the menu. [alert admin]

CDFinder 5.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Great

Not 100% perfect, but works great and fast. The new interface for version 5 seems a little clunky to me though. I get thrown off by the "column" look because you'd think it works like the Finder in column view but it doesn't. [alert admin]

Apple GarageBand 4.1 (Mac OS X)

WRONG - Should be 4.1

This update, direct from Apple, puts Garageband at version 4.1, not 4.0.1. [alert admin]

Unsuitable for professionals

2 offices, 2 mac pros for our printing company and no problems with FAP 4. Been using FAP for years.

Good. Not Great…

I completely agree. I find the non-standard interface annoying, and why is it so tiny? You can make the program have an icon in the dock, but initially it was confusing when I couldn't find the menus. Also, why doesn't it support multiple accounts? Tweetie is brand new and it supports it.

problems with 10.5.5?

Problems have been resolved through a complete wipe of the program and it's related files. Insider support was very kind and helpful.

Font auto-activation works with well with Leopard

FontAgent Pro 4 came with CS3 plugins the moment it was released. Insider also released plugins for FAP3 as well. Not sure where you got your info from. Using CS3 and Mac OS 10.5.4 with FAP4 and auto-activation works here - I use it all day, every day.

Had to downgrade.

I get the "seemingly random auto-activating fonts" problem too, but none of the slow downs or corruptions issues.

the latest version is 4.1

Correction - it's not 4.1 it's 4.0.1 - just download it again and you'll see when you install it.

no info on upgrade costs

The upgrade is seamless. Just run the installer and then launch FontAgent Pro 4 and it will take your settings and fonts from the previous version. 4000+ fonts here, no major problems so far. Their website has been updated now to state that upgrade purchases will be available later this week for $49.95. FYI: the CS3 plugins were not "over a year late" - their press release said "later this Spring" but they were finally…

No new versions

In the Adobe Support Forums there is mention of Insider working on a new version of FAP that is supposed to "blow our socks off".

http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3c0346b2?@641.hgfKhVFOVXY@

I also got a response from them saying "they are working on new plugins and hope to have them out soon."

Simply the best

Where is this supposed "CS3 Support" you speak of? There is nothing listed on their site about an update to FAP except that it was to come last Spring (and never did). I love FAP by the way...
