Mozilla Thunderbird 1.5 (Mac OS X)

Good but...

There are two things preventing me from using Thunderbird: 1) There's no way to import all my mail from Apple Mail 2) No easy address book integration/import Unfortunately, until these two HUGE issues have been addressed, I'll stick with what I'm currently using. [alert admin]

Almost there...

Overall, this is an excellent little app. Still not as polished as Netflix Freak or Ipod Rip, but it's getting there. Pros: Can export to iPod. Works seemlessly with Spotlight. ITunes-like interface is well executed. Shopping list feature is cool. The price is right! Cons: If you have alot of recipes, it's still a little on the slow side. The Cooking View/full screen mode needs an adjustable font-size feature or customizable template or something so you can view the entire recipe on the screen. Tends to crash occasionally. Importing recipes can be a tad unpredictable. Difficult to standardize ingredients. I'm eagerly awaiting the 2.0 version. [alert admin]

SnapWeb 2.0 r1 (Mac OS X)

Would be great...If it had Flash support

Made the mistake of buying the upgrade assuming they would include Flash support in version 2.0...

My own stupidity aside, the lack of Flash support is the only glaring issue (and it is a HUGE one, being that many web pages include Flash) with this app.

It's stable, incredibly easy to use, priced right, and makes nice screen shots (providing the web page has no Flash elements in it).

I would love to recommend this product. Unfortunately, that one major issue prevents that. [alert admin]

Excursion 2.5.5 (Mac OS X)

These guys will rip you off. AVOID!!

Paid for their product. Gave me an expired notice and won't allow me to unlock it. Multiple calls and e-mails to this "company" (if they really exist) have gone unanswered. I'd take legal action, but it's just not worth it for a $20 product and these guys know it. Avoid this product like the plague. This company seems to only be interested in ripping people off. Great Little App. Essential for any Netflix User.

This is a great example of what a Mac Application should be. It's elegant and easy to use and makes using Netflix much more pleasurable. Well worth the more-than-reasonable shareware price. The only minor criticism I might have is the lack of sortable column headers in the "Browse" section (which the "queue" section has). Highly recommended for anyone with a Netflix account. Zinio 1.4.4 (Mac OS X)

Just Awful

I finally got so annoyed with the constant crashing on download and the lousy usability of this awful program, I converted to the print version of MacWorld.

Navigating thru pages is cumbersome and unintutive. I often found myself spending more time zooming in/out and turning pages thru their clumsy interface rather than reading the magazine. There's no drag feature to quickly scan around a page when enlarged. I found I wasn't looking at my magazines because I was so aggravated by this amatuer PDF wannabe.

Macworld should really think twice about associating with this P.O.S. Why couldn't they offer an option to download the mag as a PDF?

Maybe Windows users are used to, and even expect, crap like this, but Mac users expect and are used to better.

WMV problems?

Unfortunately, anything with that particular crappy Windows-only codec won't play on any Mac. There is a solution, however clumsy. And it did work for me (although I was converting an MPEG rather than a WMV). Look here: http://www.moviecodec.com/topics/1912p1.html

6.5.3 on Tiger

Notes is he only thing keeping me from upgrading to Tiger, as, unfortunately, I need it for work. There's absolutely no info whatsoever on IBM's abysmal website about Tiger compatibility. Anyone else running 6.5.3 on Tiger have any issues?
