Garmin MapInstall 2.1 (Mac OS X)
Terrible software for good hardware ![]()

Oh dear, it's Garmin. I've got an Edge 705 - fantastic hardware, ABYSMAL software. This is just one example of how Garmin makes everything as difficult as possible for the user. When you buy the unit, it says 'Mac compatible' on the box - but what they don't tell you is that you need a PC as well as your Mac to get the maps onto your GPS. The best solution I've found so far (after 4 months using the unit and loving it) is never to touch any of their software and use a third party app (I like Ascent) as much as possible. [alert admin]

ChronoSync 3.3.0 (Mac OS X)
I've been using Chronosync for about 6 months to sync my laptop and desktop, just got the latest version. I'd recommend it v highly - does just what it says, no fuss, no bother. Free updates and works like a dream. No, I'm nothing to do with the company, I just like it when I get something reliable and effective. [alert admin]

mAC3dec 1.6 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
Great - unfussy and does the job. More reliable than other audio decoders I've tried. [alert admin]

Griffin Final Vinyl 1.1.2 (Mac OS X)
This is the worst, most unstable software I've ever run, on any machine, ever. At best it'll work for 10 minutes before crashing, putting cues in the wrong place. Oh, and did anyone mention the appalling sound quality? My expensive stereo sounds like a dalek through this thing... [alert admin]
