Gone fishin' at thelittleappfactory?

iPod Rip was once the only kid on the block when it came to funneling music from iPod to iTunes and it worked great. So I bought and used it, albeit occasionally, since it's not something one needs to do often.

Recently however, I obtained a new MacBook Pro and reloaded my 3.9.1 version of iPod Rip only to discover that the function it can accomplish is a "Hard Recover" to my desktop. What?

The program claims my iPod is either new or the database is corrupt. So I wipe my iPod clean and restore the software and load one playlist from iTunes as a test.

Nada, nothing! The same result; Hard Recover, new iPod or corrupt database. I have emailed thelittleappfactory 4 times with absolutely no response. These guys have gone fishing and won't be back anytime soon I guess.

So I bought PodWorks from another vendor ($8) and Voila! it sees my iPod and transfers the playlist to iTunes like butter......

iPod Rip is now iPod Rest In Peace!!!!! Try Pod Works, which seems to work just fine. [alert admin]

SideTrack 1.4.1 (Mac OS X)

Sleep mode issue & Airport suddenly not recognized

I thought I found gold, until I tired to wake my PB17 1gb (circa 2003) from sleep this morning.

First off, it wouldn't wake up. Then after force restarting it woke up. Then after opening Safari, it hung the entire machine and my Airport went out. After un-installing Side Track and 5 restarts the Airport still would not come back to life. System Profiler could not recognize that an Airport card was installed.

Finally, after rebooting from an external drive to determine if I had a fried Airport card (which I didn't) and then restarting from my computer, the Airport came back to life without having to re-install the entire system software (OSX10.4.6).

Seems there is some kind of bug in Side Track that causes this calamity.

I suggest the developer go in to find this issue and correct it. This problem prevents me from using Side Track. It's off my machine. It was fun to use when it worked, but I can't deal with an issue like this. Reminds me of the days of OS 9.x

A great idea with a flaw. Too bad since many of us desperately need a scrolling track-pad on a vintage machine. [alert admin]

Discus 4.12 (Mac OS X)

Solid product getting better

I've used Discus for at least 5 years. Version 4 adds to it's functionality.

One thing I must say is that the guys over at Magic Mouse are very responsive to comments and suggestions about this software. They care tremendously about our user experience and are trying to improve the product to the best of their abilities and resources.

Buy the program, use it and enjoy it. The artwork library is fantastic. I was showing it to my 12 year old niece last week and she was blown away by the variety.

Please disgard any other posts you've seen by me on this site regarding Discus as I was caught up in user hell and have since had some great tech support from Ed at MM.

I highly recommend Discus 4.12..... [alert admin]
