TVUPlayer 1.0.0 (Mac OS X)
No replacement (or even ready) for prime time.
Cool idea. But, I've got a fast Intel Mac, the latest Safari. So far, not an experience that would make me a fan, let alone give it another try. My impression: lots of halting video, mayn channels that don't load at all, frequent crashes of browser. [alert admin]

Capo 1.1 (Mac OS X)
FWIW, the price is listed here at $39, but on the developer's site as $49. I'd need to be persuaded first that it was as good as Roni Music's Amazing Slow Downer, which I do think is worth $50 and which is a mature product. Still, always room for one more. [alert admin]

Snowtape 1.0 (Mac OS X)
I'm getting crashes on attempts to add stations. And this still needs a well-thought-out set of instructions. For instance, it ought to be explained somewhere that the category folders are the equivalents of the iTunes "Smart" playlists, i.e., they will only accept items that match their filter criterion, which appears to be their name. So you can't simply open iTunes and drag in a Public radio station to the Public folder, since most of those stations in iTunes are categorized as Talk, or Classical, or Various or whatever. You would need to change the category to get it to the folder you want. And you only get one choice (and no user-defined folders); you can't, so far as I can tell, classify a station like WNYC-FM, which is a talk station by day and Classical at night, so that it appears in both folders. $30 seems a bit much to me for SW that is essentially still being brought up to snuff. At half that I might take take a flyer. [alert admin]

MPFreaker 1.8 (Mac OS X)
The trial version lets you modify 3 tracks. It took 15 tries to find 3 tracks that it could modify. In only one case did it find album artwork (all tracks I tried lacked artwork, my primary interest). In another case it added lyrics (to Jingle Bells, no less!) and in another it found some incidental album info. But it couldn't find info on a bunch of commercial CDs, including issues by Diana Krall, Dave Brubeck or Alfred Brendel, all on major labels. So, for the moment, I'll keep my money. [alert admin]

Probably due to changes in the MTA site, this widget no longer works; it brings up advisories from December of 2008. Too bad.
