SMART Utility 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Reports False Negatives on Drive.

I am not sure if this is because I have a Boot Camp Partition on this drive or if it is the way that SMART Utility reports individual attributes for certain brands of Drives. When I first ran SMART Utility it reported it passed 3 of my drives (all Western Digital) and reported the 4th drive (Samsung HD501LJ) as Failing with 1 pending bad sector. Being a good sport I used Carbon Copy Cloner to mirror the drive to an external drive, zeroed out this drive and re-installed Windows on the Boot Camp Partition. Same result. Next I took an identical HD501LJ drive straight from the box and installed that in my machine followed by a re-install of the Boot Camp partition and Windows. Same Failing with 1 pending bad sector error on the brand new drive. Now I don't know if it is the Boot Camp partition that is causing SMART Utility to report the error or if it is the way that it is reading the drive attributes. It is my understanding that the meaning and interpretation of drive attributes varies among manufacturers and that they are sometimes considered to be a "trade secret" of the manufacturer. Perhaps in this case SMART Utility is not correctly interpreting the attributes of the Samsung HD501LJ drives. I am not concerned about a failure either way as this drive contains nothing but a Boot Camp Partition and the rest is used as a scratch disk, but it is interesting to note that it failed both drives with the same error. In any case despite the fact that I back up to multiple sources including a RAID array, I would still license SMART Utility if it were say in the $10-15 range. I think it is a little overpriced for what it is (particularly since it is still a work in progress) and I am a little skeptical of how well it is really interpreting the attributes of my drives. Kill Monty 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Tried it. Didn't like it. Found it boring and repetitive, mediocre graphics.

I tried the game really hoping to like it. Maybe it just isn't my cup of tea. Found the graphics to be so-so, game play to be boring and repetitive. Even for an arcade style game it seemed to be lacking any real creativity. Just wasn't at all my thing. [alert admin]

SRS iWOW 1.1.8 (Mac OS X)

Very Worthwhile Purchase

After using the demo of SRS iWoW the purchase decision was an easy one. The program does what it says and does it very well. I was impressed with how noticeable a difference it made. I wish that they would offer a little bit of a price break for multi-seat licenses though. It would make it a little more affordable to put it on multiple computers. [alert admin]

OnyX 1.7.9 (Mac OS X)

Awsome program to have in the tool chest

I have been using Onyx for about a year now. I always appreciate not only how good it is, but how quickly they provide updates to the program. Onyx would be a good value even if there was a charge for it, but the fact that it is free makes it a steal. [alert admin]

RAIDaid 1.6.1 (Mac OS X)

Expensive for what you can find for free

I would also agree that $20 is too much for information you can find for free with not a lot of effort. If the price were say $9.95..maybe even $10.95 I would buy it. [alert admin]

FlickrExport for iPhoto 2.0.5 (Mac OS X)

Expensive for what is basically a beta

I am not saying it is horrible by any means. FlickrExport has some very nice features and is easy to use. I think given more time the problems could be ironed out and it could become a stable program. As of now it is not. It has multiple issues and annoyances which are well documented in previous reviews. Some worked out, some remain. Until it has something of a proven history as a stable program the developers might want to consider a price cut. Until then I can not see justifying the price or more than a 3 star rating. Not an Omni Group Application

Exactly! tpecorella_dotmac is obviously just being reactionary and not really getting the gist of what is being said. Nobody is complaining about the product or saying that Wooden Brain has any legal precedent to change the name of the product. Wooden Brain makes some nice little utilities, a few I have made use of. OmniGrowl, iDupe and MoveTunes. The original poster was making the point that OmniGroup has achieved a certain amount of name recognition…

Not an Omni Group Application

"so it is our view that the name suits the application." It may suit it, but I still agree 100% with the OP. Name recognition counts for a lot and the OP is right on target. That being said I do love Omnigrowl, but to be honest the only reason I even tried it at first is I thought it was an Omnigroup product.

Expensive for what you can find for free

Look I don't disagree with what you are saying. But you do have to put a value on what that is worth to you. I have looked at their website and I have looked at their screenshots and I don't see anything here that I can not find quickly and easily. So what is that convenience worth to people? I said $10, mmoralas said maybe $15? They have since lowered the price to $14.94 so I…

No upgrade price?

Roxio is known for this kind of thing. Over the Holidays they listed Toast 7 Titanium among the sale items on an email of "Up to 70% Saving." Clicking on the link for full list of sale software leads to a page with no mention of Toast 7 Titanium and no sale to be found anywhere on the site. If they are not gouging on upgrade pricing they are spaming with "bait and switch"…
