SMS Mac 2.1 (Mac OS X)
Great deal for sending international text messages. ![]()

The address book plugin is designed decently and it is simple to use. Never try to send a single message after selecting an address book group - this will result in sending the text message to the whole address book group. ~0.10 EUR / message is quite fair, especially for international text messages. The additional annual fee of 10 EUR is in my opinion a bit of a rip-off, though. Almost every text message reaches its addressee - otherwise you will be informed by email and your money is refunded. I have used CrystalMaker and CrystalDiffract for almost a year now (for inorganic solid state crystal structures). To sum it up - it is very intuitive and it has been stable up to now. Upsides: - It is very easy to integrate it with SHELX (e.g. using TextMate scripts) or GSAS (Rietveld refinements), so the overall workflow is much quicker than using WinGX/Diamond on Windows computers, for example. - The new Spotlight integration is quite useful (although some search tags do not seem to work properly yet), especially if you have got lots of crystal structures on your hard disk. - The V8.x interface leaves much less clutter on your desktop than the previous version (especially if you are using Leopard's Spaces). - Renderings for both publications and presentations are magnificent. - Nice integration of CrystalDiffract (high quality simulation of powder patterns). - Much more intuitive than Diamond (Windows) for ordinary crystal structures. - Cambrige Soft has got special concessions for grad/undergraduate students, which makes the price tag quite reasonable. - Great customer support. Downsides: - Lack of visualising magnetic structures. - Lack of visualising electronic structures / 3-dimensional electron density maps (e.g. from Wien2K or STUTTGART-LMTO) Hopefully, these missing features will be added sometime in the future. Arnold 1.7.5 (Mac OS X)
Works like a charm. I've been using the older (1.7.5) version for quite a while - all I can say - it really works like a charm with all the old games and/or applications. It's so much fun spending hours of nostalgia in front of a CPC (which was my first home computer). [alert admin]

All my Transmit automator actions went missing with this version. Abysmal support - they NEVER reply to an email. Otherwise fairly well product. [alert admin]

Periodic Table X 4.0.2 (Mac OS X)
I've used many periodic tables before but this one is the best one I've ever seen (I'm studying chemistry). Especially useful are the several bonding properties tables as well as some physical properties such as work function - usually you'll find this information only spread across several different textbooks. Details provided are accurate and developer fixes wrong information quickly. [alert admin]

First of all: Great product. You can even use NetNewsWire to save you loads of money for VT Pro: - Subscribe to the VersionTracker RSS feed - Create a smart folder, which contains all the software you want to keep up to date e.g. Match "any" of the following conditions: Title starts with NetNewsWire Title starts with Firefox - Description contains for OS X 10.4 (Brings up new Apple security updates) Description contains on OS X 10.4 (ditto) ... One bad thing, though: If your filter rules extend your screen, no scroll bar will appear (Developers, please fix it!!!) [alert admin]
