Network Beacon 1.1 (Mac OS X)
I was afraid it was lost to the sands of time. Now I can listen to my iTunes library from anywhere again (unless Apple managed to block it somehow). [alert admin]

Shimo 0.9.6 (Mac OS X)
In the time it takes to download, you took the ugliest, least Mac-friendly application on my MacBook and made it one of the unobtrusive and easiest to use. This app does for VPN what Synergy did for iTunes or LaunchBar for the Finder. [alert admin]

Did not see this listed anywhere, but Get Info says it's so. [alert admin]

Gmail Notifier 1.8.2 (Mac OS X)
Although it's not yet on VT's list, 1.8.2 is a Universal Binary--I checked the app with Get Info. [alert admin]

Send As Email CMM 1.1 (Mac OS X)
is a CMM that will attach a file to an *already open* mail window. Usually when I'm attaching a file it's in reply to someone, while this CMM (and dragging the file to the Mail icon) open a new window without any recipient or subject info. Speaking of dragging to the Mail icon, another way to attach is to select the files, copy, then paste into the message window. [alert admin]

DYMO LabelWriter 7.5 (Mac OS X)
I was hoping that's what the timing of this release meant. Is it coming soon? Anyone have experience trying to use a LabelWriter on an Intel iMac? [alert admin]

I agree with those who say that this is primarily useful for backing up small things like system settings regularly. The biggest problem that I can see is that it won't replace an existing backup, it always makes a new folder--you either have to have a backup drive large enough to store several copies of your files and/or delete them manually. If you're backing up bookmarks, history, address book, etc. that's no problem and it probably would be a big help to have those kinds of archives someday. As it is, if I were to use this, I'd probably have to use another backup program for most of my files. Also, the interface is confusing, in that, for example, if you choose to backup the desktop folder in the "home folder" category, but then choose specific items from the desktop to backup in the Desktop category, you get two copies of the files backed up. It would be better to see a minus sign(-) on the Desktop folder in the Home category to show you had chosen a partial backup of that folder. The other thing I'd like to see is a "check all" button for the lists, because you're more likely to want to pick just a few large, unimportant things (like Adobe application support) in a folder to omit from the backup than to want to include just a handful of items. All in all, a potentially valuable app, but not for me. [alert admin]

Coloristic 1.6 (Mac OS X)
xScope (from IconFactory.com) has literally six times the feature set of this app, including guides, rulers and small-screen frames, for just two dollars more, and the interface is much more sophisticated. I used Coloristic years ago (and tried it again just now) but now xScope has replaced that and two or three other programs I used to use. [alert admin]
