Keep-It-Up-X 4.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Sending mail with authentication?

I am testing Keep-it-up-X on our mail server so I am using a third-party email account and mail server to send messages from Keep-it-up. All of the third-party mail servers that I have accounts with (gmail, mac.com, etc.) require secure authentication for sending mail. There does not seem to be an option for sending authenticated mail in your software. Suggestions? [alert admin]

HideItControl 1.25 (Mac OS X)

Just copy the functionality of AutoHide!

I was looking for an alternative to AutoHide since it is no longer compatible with Leopard. I was hoping this app was it but unfortunately it is not. This app forces you to define what you want to hide. One painful app at a time. This is just stupid! The program should hide everything by default and let me define what apps I don't want it to hide. It should also have a "never hide when switching to" option. For example, when I switch to the calculator I do not want to hide my current application. NOTE TO DEVELOPER: Duplicate the functionality of auto-hide and I'll buy your app! So far the Dragthing seems to be the best alternative to AutoHide. AutoHide 1.3.8 (Mac OS X)

Retraction - Does NOT work properly with Leopard!

Okay, here's the deal...AutoHide works with Leopard but you can not modify the preferences and exclude certain applications from hiding. So for me it's pretty much worthless unless someone can come up with a workaround. I tried to edit the prefs file with BBEdit (copying my old pref from Tiger) but AutoHide just seemed to ignore the modifications. [alert admin]

AutoHide 1.3.8 (Mac OS X)

Seems to be working fine work with Leopard

After reading the previous comment about AutoHide not working with Leopard I decided to try DragThing's auto-hiding feature. I love Dragthing for it's custom dock features but I was not as happy with it's implementation of automatically hiding applications as compared to AutoHide. Today I decided to install AutoHide 1.3.8 and try it for myself. After a few minutes of testing AutoHide seems to be working great with Leopard. Perhaps the previous user who said it did not work "upgraded" to Leopard (as compared to a clean install) and this caused some preference problems. All I can tell you is that I did a clean install on a new Mac Pro and so far it seems to be working fine. I will report back here if it fails with Leopard but so far so good! [alert admin]

Spell Catcher X 10.2.3 (Mac OS X)

YES, Spell Catcher X 10.2.3 is Compatible with Leopard!

From the developer's website forum: Spell Catcher X 10.2.3 is compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard). There are some issues that you should be aware of (see link below). If you follow the advice given for each, you should be able to use Spell Catcher as always, without sacrificing any of the features you are accustomed to or require. That said, we are working on a major upgrade to Spell Catcher X that will take advantage of many new-in-Leopard technologies, and offer a slew of new features for both Tiger and Leopard users. Sorry, it's too early to give a release date, however beta testing has (recently) begun. Known Issue: http://www.rainmakerinc.com/kb/index.php?article=87 [alert admin]

ReceiptWallet 1.5.1 (Mac OS X)

Will ReceiptWallet work with a Neat Receipts scanner?

I was going to purchase a Neat Receipts scanner and resort to using Windows under Parallels. After reading the Amazon reviews of the Neat Receipt I have nixed that idea because it sounds like Neat Receipts is another piece of typical Windows garbage software. 1.) Will ReceiptWallet work with a Neat Receipts scanner? 2.) How about with a Visioneer Portable Scanner? These are the only portable scanners that I can find locally. 3.) With ReceiptWallet can I feed in receipt after receipt without having to enter any data, and then fill in the data after I have scanned all of my documents? This would be my preferred method of input. I dread the idea of stopping after every scan to enter data. If I have to do this I may as well just use a flatbed scanner and FileMaker Pro. Timbuktu Pro 8.7 (Mac OS X)

Who on earth is running Nutopia?

I purchased the 8.7 update Saturday 12/29/2007 but the download link (along with the user name and password that I received from Netopia) did not work. This is very frustrating since it appears that there have been download link problems since it's release several months ago What's even more crazy is that there is publicly accessible evaluation copy that you can download for free and activate with your old 8.6 activation key. And if you are running Windows XP...no activation key is even required. WTF? I guess they do not trust Mac users. :) Timbuktu 8.7 Evaluation Download http://www.netopia.com/download/evals/tb2/multieval_dl_8.html [alert admin]

Why not use iTunes?

If you are going to apply that kind of logic, why buy an iPhone at all? Why not use a couple of tin cans and a string? (or are you too young to know what I am even referring to?) Some of us are willing to pay extra for simplicity. Isn't that why you own a Mac in the first place?

Leopard Problems

See this link for trouble shooting your input menu problem: http://www.rainmakerinc.com/kb/index.php?article=87 Here's what the developer says: > Input Menu Troubles We are hearing from some customers about difficulties getting Spell Catcher's input method to activate, or even appear in International System Prefs. So far, most have been solved by trashing the preference file that contains your input menu configuration, restarting and then configuring it manually from scratch. To do this, navigate to your home ~/Library/Preferences/ByHost folder, trash all the…

Is there any other app that does this feature?

It appears that Dragthing can do pretty much the same thing as Autohide. One thing Dragthing is missing is the "never hide when switching to" option which I find very useful.
