A previous poster has noted this software pops up a nag screen every 5 minutes asking for money. I don't think software that nags for money is Freeware. Does this instead belong in the Shareware category? [alert admin]

Oops, sory - I think I got that wrong.
There is a business deal between Flip4Mac and Microsoft. Whether there is an ownership interest, I could not speculate. F4M is not exactly a gentleman -- it wants to sell you its "Digital Media Tools" software. I think they inked a deal with MS to get better access to the implementation specs for the Windows Media format in exchange for providing this free playback software.

The developer's website say, "Compatible with Mac OS X 10.2.8 and later (PowerPC and Intel)". I guess it runs in Rosetta? (If so, that is pretty impressive for a piece of software that interfaces with so many 3rd-party pieces of hardware.)

As others have noted, this won't work due to Mac OS 9.x and earlier not having the ability to operate on the Intel processors found in the newest Macs. For those who want to run their older apps on the new Intel Macs, you can try one of the updated emulators that run Mac OS 9.x and earlier.
