CoolBook 2.13 (Mac OS X)

Now my MacBook shuts down immediately on battery!!!

I just installed this app, with driver, on my Core2Duo Macbook. I haven't registered, so I was unable to change any settings; I just looked at the readings, quit the program. Now anytime i unplug the power plug from my Macbook, it shuts down hard within 2 seconds. I've tried uninstalling, but it still shuts down immediately on battery power! This app is dangerous. Please beware. [alert admin]

iTunes-LAME Encoder 2.0.9.34 (Mac OS X)

Better with tags, but slower

I'm glad to see they've worked out the tagging issues. Now all the tags seem to make it to the encoded files, though some Unicode still gets mangled (accented Greek characters, so far, in my experience). Still, a definite improvement over 2.0.8, which just lost ~75% of tags! I do notice, though, that this version runs at about 40% the speed of 2.0.8 on my Core 2 Duo 2gHz Macbook. I thought maybe I had a PowerPC version, but Activity Monitor shows it as Intel. I used to get around 12x encoding with "--preset standard", and now I'm at 4.5x. Any ideas? [alert admin]

I apologize. I can't confirm that that problem was due to CoolBook. My battery is working again now. It was such a close coincidence that the it started right after I installed CoolBook, but now it's working. I even registered & am now running the full version, with no problems. If I could delete my comment above, I would, but I can't figure out how to.
