GIMP 2.6.4 (Mac OS X)

Requires newer X11 than in OS X 10.5

Gimp 2.6.4 REQUIRES X11 v2.3.2 which can be found at http://xquartz.macosforge.org/trac/wiki. Suggest you read FAQ's/etc at the site before jumping in. There are some gotchas. Cheers, Al. [alert admin]

Marketplace 0.9 (Mac OS X)

Pretty good start

It's a pretty good start, especially if you need to view different geographic areas. Would like to see editable searches, and real pictures (where's there's now an eyeball icon). Cheers, Al [alert admin]

ted 0.95 (Mac OS X)

Requires 32-bit Java 5

Use the Java Preferences app in /Applications/Utilities to check your setting. You MUST select 32-bit Java 5. 64-bit Java 5 or 64-bit Java 6 will cause Ted not to launch (and it generates a cryptic error message). I've contacted the author, and he's looking into why. Cheers, Al [alert admin]

iWatchTV 1.3 (Mac OS X)

1.3 still moves movie files to the trash, but...

Intermittently, v1.3 just decides to move an arbitrary movie file to the trash. If you've run iWatch, check the trash can before you empty it! Cheers, Al [alert admin]

OmniGrowl 2.4 (Mac OS X)

Still causes sleep problem

My Mac Pro, OS X 10.5.2, won't sleep with this version either. 2.3 had same problem. Occurred since the 10.5.1 or .2 update, as it did work before. Cheers, Al [alert admin]

Requires 32-bit Java 5

Found out that it will work in 64-bit Java 5/6 if you first go to prefs and disable the "Tray icon". Set it using 32-bit Java 5/6, quit the app, then you can switch to 64-bit Java 5/6. Cheers, Al

The relationship between 4.2 and 4.3

In most developers books, a full stable release would be numbered like 4.2.5, and the next version in process would be numbered 4.2.6d1 whilst in total development condition, 4.2.6a1/a2/a3/etc in alpha test, and 4.2.6b1/b2/b3/etc in beta test, and 4.2.6fc1/fc2/fc3/etc in final candidate conditoin.
