ANGO Viewer 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
It seemed like a good idea for a split second, then I realized that this will require having the application on every mac you send the file to, and it also requires trusting that the developer will keep updating it for future OS versions; if not, the movies and images will be useless. Then it hit me that simply putting the movie or the image or a whole bunch of them in an encrypted disk image, is not only a free solution, but I can be sure that every mac can open the files, and I can also be sure that I will be able to open them in the future. ZZip Utilities Plugin 0.3 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
The only option we had before this was to buy the whole Einhugur plugin package!! but that wasn't enough. We also had to get the TTzipArchive which is a nightmare to figure out. And then came this great plugin that does it all in one line of code, for free. It's just great and you guys rock! [alert admin]

Little Snitch 1.2.3 (Mac OS X)
Urgently needs rules for code injections!
LittleSnitch keeps telling me that FinderPop is trying to inject some code in the Finder. Since I trust FinderPop, I should be able to make that an exception (or a rule). Well, I can't. The only way is to disable code injection alerts altogether, which would leave the door open to malicious apps. I don't think I can ask the FinderPop developer to change the way FinderPop interacts with the Finder, when he knows and I know that no harm is done or intended. So it's up to LittleSnitch to smarten up. [alert admin]

QT Movie NoteTaker .5 (Mac OS X)
A helpful feature would be the ability to get the real timecode of the movie, instead of assuming it starts with 00:00:00:00. Another suggestion is not to include the word "movietime" in the saved notes, because it just serves as a link in the program itself, but is useless elsewhere. Actually, why have it at all? Why not just make clicking the time itself jump to it in the movie? [alert admin]

Chamonix 1.0 (Mac OS X)
Already better than other viewers ![]()

This viewer is still at v. 0.1, and yet it kicks CHM Viewer's ass with its search capabilities; plus it's faster at opening files. Not to mention that it's free. I hope the developer will continue working on it and making it better. Mainly what's missing is to select the searched word in the text, and not just locating the page. [alert admin]

FolderOrg 1.2 (Mac OS X)
A really nice idea. The only limitation that I could find so far is that it won't move a file in the rare case where there's already a file with the same name in the destination folder. Of course, it shouldn't be difficult to fix that by adding a number to the name of the new file. Now what I really like about it is that the script can be edited. For example I added, after the folder is opened in the Finder: tell application "Finder" to select every item of added_items So if that folder contains many files already, I will be able to find the newly added file easily. UNO 1.0.2 (Mac OS X)
Fixing the transparency and the bookmark bar leaves nothing to complain about. No instability/slowdown as far as I can see. Thank you. [alert admin]

UNO 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Good job. It seems to work so far. and I would definitely keep using it if I can get rid of the menus transparency, or at least make it like Aqua. The way it is now, I can hardly read when there's text behind the menu. Is there a way to control Menus transparency the way we like? Maybe in the terminal? The white stroke on the text in Safari Bookmarks Bar is also annoying, but I guess this is part of the sunken theme and you can't do anything about it, right? [alert admin]

Move Items X 1.5.8 (Mac OS X)
echo wrote: >>Seems like this is the only one where, by contextual menu, you can move a >>file, navigating anywhere on your HD (all volumes) without having designated >>specific folders to move to. This is why I choose this. Type Shft-Cmnd-G and then type /volumes, then drag the small icon from the window header to any utility you are using (i.e FolderGlance in my case), and voila, you will have access to all your volumes. You just have to do this once in your lifetime. But if you still don't feel like doing that, because it's not gran'ma friendly, then maybe you should go ahead and pay the $15. [alert admin]

The preferences for CODE INJECTION ALERTS are global, and not specific for each item.

OK, I'll rephrase it. I do care about stability, interface, features, security, etc. and I would put up with slow performance if the app is Photoshop or AfterEffects or FinalCut Pro, because at the end of the day (and night), I will have something to show that is superior to what I would get with other products, even if they were much faster. But this kind of apps is different. It's supposed to manage files…

The NilObject thing is a RealBasic thing, but it's not RealBasic's fault, unless you consider that making programming so easy and effortless for wannabe programmers is a crime. Well maybe it is, and maybe they get spoiled by this easiness and ignore beta testing and error checking. Even in Applescript, you still need to have an On Error event, and be able to handle it somehow. This error can be avoided all together without crashing the app,…
