DivX Doctor II 2.2 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
Materials mac OS X 10.4.11 PowerBook G4 1.25 GHz 2 GB SDRAM A precious freebie but there is a vicious bug in DivX Doctor 2.2 which occurs intermittently but repeatedly for me. The app quits unexpectedly and *deletes* the source file. It doesn't just send it to the trash. I can find no trace of it. Be scrupulous about keeping a backup of any file before you use this version on in. Thanks you for the good will in making this valuable thing available to the mac community for free. [alert admin]

On some forums it's recommended to disable "prescan" in Preferences to avoid crashes. You do this when there is no DVD inserted. After that it worked for me. This might solve your problem.
