Retrospect 6.1.138 (Mac OS X)
Why Bother down loading this -- No Intel Mac yet
I have used Retrospect for years now PC & Mac and when it works it is second to none. But this never ending wait for a new version Which is 100% suitable for Intel Based Macs is getting me and my clients down. Over the last 18 months I have had several conversations with them. Last I heard 3 months ago they were still planning on coming out with a new version Late 2007 Early 2008. Well here is hoping. The main reason for this post is that I hope they read these posts and that it will encourage them to get off their duffs and "move it ". Please [alert admin]

EasyFind 4.0 (Mac OS X)
To the casual onlooker to ask. If you have SpotLight why would you need EasyFind ? I have used Easyfind for several years now, I think it would be fair to say that it is not that one can or should serpent the other, rather that they should be used in tandem. Or at least that is the way I have found most helpful. However may I quickly add that as they do have some similar functions, one method becomes one's weapon of choice more often than not. As I have a background firmly rooted in Classic, hence EasyFind is usually my weapon of choice. thank you One User's opinion. [alert admin]

Mom's Calendar 3.6 (Mac OS X)
This package is simple and to the point. Although one can get to use some of the extras if all one wants is a day-timer/appointment/note book this will do fine. Only negative is making the last days of the prior month and the first few days of the following month active inside the current month. This is a minor tweak. [alert admin]

The Weather Channel Screensaver 1.0 (Mac OS X)
I guess Candians do not count. I installed the package and the shots are nice. But after the last three 3 weeks of bloody awful weather we are experiencing are first cloudless warm series of days. But not according to the weather channel we are mostly cloudy. So nice pictures are available elsewhere and accurate forecasts are also available elsewhere. This package now resides in File 13. Too Bad. [alert admin]

SuperDuper! 2.1.4 (Mac OS X)
Ninety Nine point Five percent Perfect ![]()

Super Duper is an excellent piece of software. For my purposes "home user" it fits the bill exactly. I would dare to say for medium and small business it will also come up shining. The online documentation is excellent, easy to understand and read. I printed the 60 page manual and worked that way. The program may be used in its unregistered form and will provide a very viable level of back-up protection, especially to the very minimal user. Paying the very reasonable shareware fee opens the package up to the type of options required by the user who has learned the value of backing up. The initial back-ups of the different types which may be chosen by the user are easy to execute. They happen in a very reasonable to a fast amount of time. (on the PPC and Intel based machines). A very useful feature of SuperDuper is the verbose explanation of what will transpire when you the user hit the button to start it off to create a back up using the settings you have selected. Incremental and subsequent back-ups are also simple to set up and execute. For the more advanced user who may need a degree of being able to compartmentalize their back-ups, facility is made. As is the ability to buck up over a network plus a whole lot more features which fall out of the range of my use and knowledge. I have, for years used Retrospect by Dantz an excellent package, (it has a price to match) some would say the industry standard. However for whatever reason they have decided to delay on a version fully supporting the Intel based Mac. SuperDuper is the one package I have found which comes closest to matching the requirements I have become accustomed to over the years, with one minor exception. Retrospect has had and does have issues with auto- execution. They are aware of that. These issues can be overcome with a wee bit of effort making the back up of my Mac totally automatic. In this one very minor area SuperDuper might give some more thought to. If an auto back-up event does not occur because the unit is shutdown or the user is not logged in Retrospect will perform that event(s) the moment the unit is on again or the user logs in. It is of note, that this is the same area where Retrospect has had and still has issues. In my case I was able to overcome them by the use of a third party Apple Script. Bottom line since I cannot give 4.95 stars. I shall as MacWorld did say 5 Stars. Heiner Toelle [alert admin]

JuhOS X 1.0 (Mac OS X)
It Works, its Easy & its Free, sometimes packages making those claims do not deliver. I agree with another reviewer, the package needs documentation. I wrote some for myself and be willing to share it ---- h.toelle (at) cogeco (dot) ca --. I have been looking for just such a package since the launch of OSX. I have been using a classic app in the mean time. trouble is one has to boot classic not OSX and then Classic. Good Job thank you [alert admin]

After reading the comments of another user's unfortunate outcome. I thought I had better add my two cents. I read with care what is made available prior to downloading. I became suspicious when I could not find any clear statement that the package would be able to make a viable backup copy of a commercially produced DVD with its usual anti piracy protection. I decided to write to the developers. The answer I got back was of no help, it suggested I use the trial version to make the determination on my own. In light of what I have read and received from the developer. I would recommend that potential buyers proceed with due caution. Respectfully submitted. HT [alert admin]

MacTheRipper 2.6.6 (Mac OS X)
Suggestion -- contact MTR. I had the same issue and ask about the Beta version of MTR 3.0. It resolved the issue. But I had to use POP corn not Toast 6 to burn. Hope this helps From h (dot) toelle (at) cogeco (dot) ca [alert admin]

I had exactly the same issue. This is a strong suggestion which worked for me , contact MTR and ask them for the Beta version of MTR 3.0 . it does seem to resolve the problem.
