MyAccounts 4.47 (Mac OS X)
to be a nice program from the "screenshot" views. However, I'm unable to test the product (or other software from their site) because of several reasons: [1] The email address for support is no good. Their email address is difficult to find to begin with; and when you do find it out, their support address keeps coming back as non deliverable. This is the only address that I could find: <support@jesusreigns.co.uk>. If a developer is this hard to get a hold of, I've experientially learned to stay clear--especially when the product is $20.00. [2] They advertise their products to be compatible from os9 through osX Universal. However, there's a major glitch with that claim. I'll explain: Whether their software is on VT's site or on their site (in their case, it's only a DL page--no web site) it's non functioning for os9. Most ALL developers fail to realize that os9 users can not use osX desktop compressed files because, once opened, they are generic useless files. OSX files are e.g.: osX-zip, sitX, dmg, or some kind of universal binhex file. OS9 users are still only capable of using e.g., sit, sea, img, and zip or binhex files compressed for os9. Developers using osX have the capability to compress files that os9 users can use when their osX compression software is set correctly, but they fail to use the proper settings within that software for os9 capability. That's also assuming, of course, that the software that they're developing with is capable of compiling code for both platforms. I hope this advice gets back to this developer, and will help the reader here to understand what's happening. Personally, I'm tired of emailing developers about this issue. Perhaps some of you will notify developers about this issue too, if they still choose to sell to us hardcore os9 users. [alert admin]

Accordance 6.9.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
invest in Accordance: #10) There are several good Bible Study programs on the market, and have been so for many years. Accordance is a newer entry. I believe it's been about ten years now, and its creators learned what the serious Bible student needs, to what the novice will enjoy 9) I've invested heavily in two other products over the years, and I was always "kinda-sorta" happy but never fully satisfied. 8) Customer support was fair to good with those other Bible programs. Accordance support, experientially, has always been very good. 7) Accordance's website for product upgrades is great, and module purchasing includes a serial number. It's fast and easy, but for "unlocking software groups" you need to purchase and have on hand their CDs. Also, many files are too large to download. You may only need one CD for basic entry level, to several for advanced studies, to numerous if you're at a scholar's level. This is due to the Greek and Hebrew language studies, advanced study commentaries, and reference study modules (books). 6) Accordance's module selections play second fiddle to no one. 5) It's coded (written) for several operating platforms, but appears to be heavily invested toward Mac users (this is good and the way it should be:>). 4) Mac os9 is fully supported, and as their leap into osX. 3) Updates to Accordance's heart program is always timely and constantly updated. 2) New modules are constantly being added, and others updated as needed. And the number (1) reason is; Invest in Accordance because it's what Jesus would use to teach you <smile>. This program gets a rare five star rating from me because it's the only Bible study program worth a serious long term investment of your time and money. Manuals are available free in .pdf, but an extra cost for well written paper manuals [alert admin]

SndSampler 5.1.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
is a handy little utility and it's worth the initial price of $30 (barely). However, their pricing for upgrades is nonexistent (e.g. v4.x to 5.x). Once you've purchased a license for a certain version number you receive only a few updates, usually bug fixes with few enhancements, and they move up to the next version number where you get the honor of buying a new license all over again at full price. They do have a bone for you though. If you purchased a lower version and they release a higher version between a certain time frame you get to purchase the product at a reduced price but no freebie upgrade within that time frame. For twenty years "everyone" who codes software has an upgrade policy to retain their current clients, but not this outfit. You have to purchase list price again and again to the next whole version number. Due to this policy, the few updates between the next higher number release, and given the fact it's really only a middle of the road "Quick and Dirty" utility compaired to i.e. a higher end "Sound Editor" with a good upgrade policy-- I can not recommend this utility--albeit a fair simple utility at a fair price when purchased ONCE at their list price. No upgrade policy--no upgrades for me. Note the comments by other users under mine, and you'll see that others have a problem too with their "send me more money now" dialogues. [alert admin]

PhotoLine 32 11.52 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
I went to their website to download the manual. How? It's in a web style format. Using this type of format compared to an easily printed PDF file is almost useless when trying to print a hardcopy... Moreover, the $59.00 price given is VERY misleading. The $59.00 price is in Euro not dollars, which equals $75.00 USA. I retract my "probably worth" price to much to high for me when I have GC. Sadly, it's an app overpriced and with a next to useless manual for printing up for a quick reference. In fairness, the website instructions are good. I was debating to myself whether to purchase the app, now it's not even a consideration. [alert admin]

PhotoLine 32 11.52 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
but not a good replacement for Graphic Converter. I'm not even sure PhotoShop is a good replacement for Graphic Converter:>) In my limited testing of version 11.52 (although get info states 10.52) has not crashed on my 9500 w/os9.1. Although probably worth $59.00, it seems to barely do half of what GC does at a much less price tag. Moreover, This program needs a well written PDF file included, rather than having to go to the developer's website for the documentation. [alert admin]

PDFCat 1.5.1 (Mac OS 9)
Version: 1.5.1, 10/30/2004 07:50PM PST is not at all well thought out, and it's lacking any real enhancement in what Acrobat can already do for storing pdf files. PDFCat allows the user to select from three file formats for PDF record file keeping. The program is also way over priced in its current form for PDF file record keeping. PDFCat needs its own database file format (so it can recognize duplicate files) to be of use because (e.g), if you scan your drive for all PDF files, and PDFCAt comes up with a list of 1000 pdf files--then a month later you rescan (because you have added new pdf files) you will end up with, say, 2158 pdf files--all duplicate scans (except the new 158 pdf files). This causes great confusion and an over bloated file. PDFCat's solution is to rescan the drive each time to get ALL files once again. To do a complete scan of a large drive can take a long time. Moreover, there's no "good way" for a hierarchal finding of your pdf files... In conclusion, I also get a NilObject Exception error before scanning is completed causing wasted time and more frustration. PDFCat is a good idea but lacking in quality, usefulness, and most of all it's boondoggle attempt of an app with a hefty price tag [alert admin]

Labels and Cards Pro 1.8.6 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
great software developer to work with when there's an issue with a version release. Working with Dmitry through emails has been a pleasure. I recently had issues with v1.8.5 of L&C Pro, and some of the issues (under Mac Classic environment) could not be duplicated by them, but with numerous emails they got ALL the issues resolved for me in v1.8.6. I've registered several of their apps, and all are of quality and price. In fact, their pricing is less costly, by far, when compaired to their competetitors. Moreover, some software, like L&C Pro --my favorite--can not be had at any price for the classic environment wiith the quality and tasks built into that app. I highly recommend Metis's product lineup. Spamfire 1.5.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
its weight in the behemothic amount of spam it filters It's well priced, well maintained, numerous subscription filter updates, and well maintained wirh ongoing releases. If it were not for this utility -- it would be my skull exploding, and well before the spammer's skull would. I wish Matterform would hurry up on programming that option for spammers... However, Spammers don't have skulls because they're worms without a mother and father and lower than whale chit. Does anyone know anyone who knows anyone who responds to spam, especially with words designed to evade spam filters like "credit" as "crd it'? These worms are as arrogant and malicious as virus writers. Regardless, making your own personalized filters is a breeze. If you love to get spam DO NOT buy this utility. For those with an IQ higher than worms, you need this utility. [alert admin]

TinyBooks 1.1.5 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
---Miss Molly! Ditto to what "dolphinboy2U" said... And I'll add this ---fair is fair and rape is rape--- ::>| Look at Lemke's GC and all it does for the price - compaired to this 3rd world national debt and only offers barebones according to the developer. This is a 10-15 dollar SW if I ever heard of one. [alert admin]

DesktopPublisher Pro 2.2.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
they are constantly updated and improved. They are very resonably priced and tech support has always and tinely responded to my email to them. Looking over the reviews it seems many are very critical of DTP pro. I'd agrree with some if we we where talking a week's wages for such an app, but we're not. For the price, timely updates, and service many of you are way out of line. I'm licsensed to use three of their apps, and they're all sweet. Meaning, bugs are addressed, enhancements are ongoing, and documentation is very good. Stop whining and be thankful for good apps at a good price. Thank you Metis. DTP pro is a 4-star app, but I'm giving it 5 to offset some of the whining... [alert admin]
