UTC Clock 1.0.5 (Mac OS X)
it is a true mac app. minimalistic with hidden power. and nearly every link useful. it sits there and does exactly what i need it to do with no clicks or maintenance or moving around of windows or opening of apps or cluttering up the dock or menubar. i do wish it had showed seconds, but how hard is it to shift your eyes up 1" to the menubar clock for the seconds? /guy. i've been using this app for years since i have a shift schedule that has a two-week recurring pattern. unfortunately, in trying to enter a work pattern i found the app consistently crashed after i hit the 'save' key. i sent an email to pando late last night and received an attachment with a new, working build in less than 15 minutes. what a treat! if only large, faceless software corporations cared so much about a single customer. /guy [alert admin]

RosettaTest 0.89 (Mac OS X)
if i'm not mistaken (not at my mac now) activity monitor displays in the far right column whether a running app, process or daemon is intel or ppc. i think you can even sort by this column. /guy [alert admin]

Camino 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
installed camino after a two year hiatus and find it explosively quick compared to safari and firefox. i asked a question using the email support and within a matter of minutes one of the programmers (chris) had acknowleged my bug, shown me how to subscribe to it using bugzilla, and even answered some of my questions as to future features. it's great to see this level of enthusiasm and dedication to this project. /guy [alert admin]

... for the radio enthusiast who prefers to use a macintosh. i corresponded with the author on the improved ar8200 driver and found him professional, patient and courteous. he answered every question i asked in a timely manner and tweaked this program to fix some problems i had with uploading ar8200 memories from my radio. i doubt you can get better support anywhere. i only knocked off a point for demo limitations and lack of a help file. /guy (kg5vt) [alert admin]

TopXNotes 1.0 (Mac OS X)
simple, clean, intuitive and fast--the features i want most in a notebook app. this is a very solid 1.0 release and developer is motivated to provide top-notch support and updates for the product. /guy [alert admin]

DVDpedia 1.3.3 (Mac OS X)
this seems the best of the mac osx lot ...
... and i purchased it. but for hard-core dvd collectors the gui is not the selling point and the be-all and end-all--the database--is the selling point. and since no one can even remotely compare to the dvdprofiler database. and until this database info is equaled, any mac dvd catalog program will be way back in second place. a sad, unfortunate, but inescapable, fact. /guy [alert admin]

DVDpedia 1.2 (Mac OS X)
interesting nytimes dvd-collector article
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/02/26/technology/circuits/26vide.html [std blurb: free reg req'd &c] anyone know anything about the mac dvd application (readerware) ref'd in this article? it sounded like it needed some sort of scanner, but i'm not sure. /guy [alert admin]
