Freeway Pro 5.0p1 (Mac OS X)

No free upgrade for users who purchased only three weeks ago!

Great, I purchased FreewayPro on 19-Dec-07 and only three weeks later they release version 5, allowing only customers who purchased AFTER 1-Jan-08 a free upgrade. It's business practices like these that put software companies like Softpress on my blacklist. Surely somebody at the company must have known about this and could have issued some form of statement 2-3 months in advance. That's called best practice and customer service. [alert admin]

Liquid Ledger 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Worst Car Wreck in Mac OS Software History

I love Liquid Ledger and was looking forward to this upgrade for years. Initially promised as a free upgrade I even paid the CAD 39.99. What a mistake! This version 2 is a downgrade in all respects. The worst user experience I’ve ever had in more than 15 years of working on a Mac. [alert admin]

Awaken 3.1.4 (Mac OS X)

Problem solved!

Just to let everybody know that I’ve solved the problem of Awaken not playing. It was due to Unsanity’s Shapeshifter! Now the app works like a charm. I still wish for more functionality like in Alarm Clock Pro... but Awaken is just easier to use and more beautiful to look at. [alert admin]

Awaken 3.1.4b2 (Mac OS X)

Asleep would be a better name.

Awaken 3.1.4b has the same problem as previous versions: my Mac does wake up from sleep and when I look at the screen in the morning Awaken’s there... but no music is playing nor is the alternative alarm ringing. In fact, I’m still woken up by my mobile phone because I simply cannot rely on Awaken. I’ve reported this issue numerous times and, judging from the forums on the developer’s site, I’m not alone. However, nothing’s been done to address the problem. It’s been months now since I registered and I’m seriously considering going back to AlarmClockPro. It’s not as nice to look at... but it works! Reliably that is. And: I don’t have to wait for months before getting a reply from customer support. [alert admin]

FoneLink 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Should be Beta... but shows promise

Very much in Beta. Not working on my Sony Ericsson K800i and Nokia 6230. The phones are not recognized and I cannot even add the devices despite Bluetooth being enabled and the phones showing in the File Exchange window. This one needs to go back to the drawing board... will check back in at a later version before dashing out my hard earned dough. [alert admin]

RapidWeaver 3.6 (Mac OS X)

Buyer beware... paying for bug fixes yet again

This is outrageous. I purchased RW 3.5 early January at version 3.5. It had its quirks and bugs, but I trusted they would be resolved with the next version. Now I'm asked to pay for an upgrade from version 3.5 to version 3.6??? And while the intro screen announces a substantial discount my fee is still $25 for an upgrade. The new app is $49!!! I cannot see enough new features in this minor update to justify this fee. Sorry, but the folks at RealMacSoftware have just lost my trust. [alert admin]

CDFinder 5.0 (Mac OS X)

Best of the Pack!

I too registered version 3 long ago... and my key is still working after many years and some major upgrades. CDFinder is rock solid and reliable, has been throughout the years, and now it even looks great! Thanks for keeping up the good work and keeping the spirit of shareware alive! [alert admin]

Musicast 1.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Dead in the water...

Developer's site is offline. Registered this app and was looking for an update... however, it's dead in the water! Shame. [alert admin]

DiskWarrior 4.0 (Mac OS X)

Error 2163... cannot replace disk?

Disk Warrior is great... but keep your fingers crossed that it works properly. DW4 has some quirky bugs that remain unfixed. As to when they will be fixed? Well, the developer didn't even bother - for almost 18 months! - fixing DW3 and leaving it to the Mac community to come up with a solution (you had to rename a sound file in DW3 if I remember correctly). Then DW4 came out... and with it a new problem. I get often error 2163 whereas a duplicate disk cannot be put away. This happens when the "replace" button in the report is not clickable, leaving only the option to press "cancel." Great product, truly bad support. [alert admin]

Nice... but for that price I get the ENTIRE iLife package!

I prefer apps to be priced in relation to what they do. While I have more lower priced shareware registered I’ve also put down $90 for OmniGraffle and other higher priced packages such as Microsoft Office and Macromedia Suite. No, I don’t only buy $10 apps... but I buy apps that are realistically priced. Ubercaster is not. Sorry.

Multi-currency support

Well... no. The summary window showing profit loss will be totally out of whack. While I can raise an invoice with a different currency symbol (which is really good), the currency is not translated into the home currency. So, some 2,000 Euro and 2,000 dollars profit will show as 4,000 profit in the summary view... too good to be true, isn't it?

Cooool

You were able to run it on a 1.2 Ghz Powerbook? Is it playable? The minimum system requirements are 1.8 Ghz... which is too much for my old fella.

Perfect menubar calendar! (using free version)

Yep... me too. This company is pricing its product out of the market. $8 would be more suitable.

A Cavet About Intego NetUpdate

Thanks for this post!!! I had that preference also enabled and the updater was just about to download the new version 10.4!!! This practice is really sneaky of Intego... well, I for one have stopped purchasing their software and will not upgrade.

WARNING: SKYPE HAS BIG PROBLEMS WITH ACCOUNTS

Yeah... what do you expect? Skype is now an eBay company. Did you ever try to contact eBay? I protested with Skype when they just sucked my balance without sending any notice about the “expiry date.” This is the Internet age: ZERO customer service with no way to contact customer support.

yahoo???

I have the same problem... Yahoo IM is not working anymore. No clue why, but I suspect this has to do with some internal changes at Yahoo and I eagerly await the next release of AdiumX (which, by the way, is a terrific app).
