OnyX 2.1 (Mac OS X)
This one does not work for me at all. If you have a USB modem connected to the Internet, your whole system will go into an unrecoverable crash (even the clock is stopped). The only way out is to force a shutdown. It does this when OnyX wants to scan the hard drive for errors and attempts to shut everything down (including the modem driver). Sorry, into the trash it goes.... [alert admin]

CNET TechTracker app 1.0 beta 4 (Mac OS X)
Works, but gives wrong info...
This version seems to install and run as it is supposed to. Also it is very fast! The problem is that most of the applications it identifies as being out of date are in fact the latest version. For instance it identifies iMovie, GarageBand, SpamSieve as being versions from years ago! It is a good thing I didn't take it at its word and start a massive session of downloading. CNet needs to rewrite this to improve version checking. [alert admin]

Toast Titanium 10.0.4 (Mac OS X)
According to Roxio, 10.0.4 does not exist!
I went to the "Check for Updates" menu item and guess what? It appears that 10.0.3 is the latest version. Hello! [alert admin]

TechTool Pro 5.0.6 (Mac OS X)
So I get this notice about an update from TTP505 to 506 and I got to the Micromat site. I am presented with a publicity page telling me about the wonderful features of TechTool Pro 5 but no link to download the update. Can anyone tell me where I click to actually get the update to download to my computer? [alert admin]

One Key 1.2.1 (Mac OS X)
I had been using (and getting addicted to) Function Key Mapper for several years and didn't know about One Key until it failed to work with Snow Leopard. I just thought I would give this a shot. This is superior in every way except one. One Key does not seem to have the ability to use modifier keystrokes to launch applications. So once you have assigned an Fkey to one application, that is all you can use it for. Try using a modifier and you get an error tone. Function Keys Mapper allows you to use modifiers. However, One Key is much faster and doesn't use up any processor time to work properly (Function Keys Mapper always used up way too much percentage of the processors' time in my opinion). I recommend it highly. [alert admin]

iClock Pro 1.0b21 (Mac OS X)
iClock Pro 1.0b21 is 1.0b20. This is nonsense!
I went to the trouble of downloading iClock Pro 1.0b21 and guess what? It is no such thing!!!! It is only 1.0b20 again. Why is this false information still allowed to persist? [alert admin]

Toast Titanium 10.0 (Mac OS X)
I take back what I just said...
The SIT_000002 error is indeed a problem that needs to be sorted out. However Digital River and Roxio got back to me immediately (and I mean within minutes!) Roxio sent me some codes to type into a findmyorder.com web page and get to the download. I had it down and installed within an a couple of hours of the problem with Digital River. My disappointment turned into my being very impressed with this level of service that I have never experienced before. Thanks guys! [alert admin]

Toast Titanium 10.0 (Mac OS X)
I just ordered my upgrade via PayPal and after my money had departed from my account to Digital River, I clicked "Continue" and all I get is an error (A red X with the number SIT_000002). I am not taken to a download link or any information page. So, they have my money, but I am left with nothing to show for it. WTF!!! [alert admin]

Path Finder 5.0 (Mac OS X)
So I start up my computer this morning and I am informed that there is an update to PF available and do I want to update? "OK Fine", I say. There is no information that this is a paid update, it just downloads the update in the background and then asks if I want to upgrade and launch the updated Path Finder. "OK Fine" I say again. But imagine my surprise when I am informed that my serial number is no longer valid. Sorry, CocoaTech, but I find this shady, offensive and misleading. If there had been an extra alert that would inform that the upgrade would cost me that I would have to click on to proceed, I could accept this. However, there was no such information given and I am forced to go through the hassle of uninstalling this version of Path Finder and reinstalling PF4, or biting the bullet and paying up. I have been a fan of this "Swiss Army Knife" maintenance utility for awhile now. There were times when it had the occasional blips and speed issues, but it has always been reliable as long as it has been kept updated with the current updates. But with this release, it appears that they have injected steroids into the program. It may be my imagination, but it appears to run much faster and with more confidence. If you have TTP4 in your arsenal, you must try this new release. Griff [alert admin]

I think he is right. Kensington Expert Mouse will not work with USB Overdrive. If you have the Kensington mouse, don't install USB Overdrive! I uninstalled all MouseWorks software and USB Overdrive sees the mouse, but any setting for any of the buttons do absolutely nothing. You can press the buttons hoping for the settings to take control until you are blue in the face! It just won't work - Period!

It is comments like the above that could land people in very hot water. Before posting comments like this, I would make very sure you have evidence to back up the statement that CNET in fact does take bribes or it could be considered by CNET as actionable. The fact that CNET probably won't go after the author of this statement doesn't mean that the author wouldn't be held liable, just that such action isn't…

It appears that Hear has installed some detritus in various places on your hard drive that are still there when you trash the application. I would suggest that you download an application cleaner that looks in all places on your drive and gives you the choice of trashing all associated files and resources. I use Hazel to do this for me, but there are plenty of others around. Once you get one of these, I…

I downloaded another copy of the updater and ran it. It did another install which seems to have corrected the problem. ImageBrowser can now run just fine on my machine. I guess the first download had a problem. Griff

Sorry, I should have included this. It shows clearly that it is a Universal application. So, there is no reason why it should decide not to run on my machine! Griff

I should add that the application icon has acquired a white circle/slash international symbol (indicating, I presume, that it will not run). Griff
