SpotInside 0.7.1 (Mac OS X)

Fast and deep

There is a spinning wheel beside the search space to indicate activity. Results come in fast. There is a history item in the left frame. pretty neat. [alert admin]

Cocktail 3.7 (Mac OS X)

Not freeware

This is an extract from the developer's site: "Like your *censored*tail? Purchase your license from our resellers, Kagi or eSellerate. It will remove all demo limitations of *censored*tail (Tiger Edition) and guarantee you free lifetime updates." SO? This is a demo, not freeware, obviously. [alert admin]

CocoViewX 0.9.6 (Mac OS X)

Check this one out

If you are unsatisfied with your present picture viewer, I urge you to look this one over. It is well laid out, has all the most useful features, and performs with all due speed on Intel/Tiger. [alert admin]

Mute Editor 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)

First contact

Looks good, feels good, works well. No documentation, but none seems needed. TextEditPlus? Well worth a try. [alert admin]

Seashore 0.1.8 (Mac OS X)

Univeral Binary version

There is indeed a Universal version at http://seashore.sourceforge.net/universal.php as a previous comment indicated (thanks, risk1). But it is nowhere listed as such. Perhaps VT should point it out? It seems to work fine, very fast; just ignore the warning window about the Help file: it won't close but you can proceed anyway. [alert admin]

Patience 1.2.2 (Mac OS X)

Flawed

Downloads fine, no scary message. The layout is the same as MacSolitaires, but much less polished. The major flaw I found is that it only allows the player to go through the pack once, making the game in effect unplayable. [alert admin]

LimeWire X 3.8.3 (Mac OS X)

Stop the bashing

I have noticed that some totally baseless and unfair Limewire bashers creep out of the woodworks at every new upgrade spitting out meaningless insults, and touting some inferior software. I would bet a lot that they have not given Limewire a try in years. I have been using and comparing it for over a year. If results (finds and downloads) are what you want, Limewire Pro is the best out there, by a wide margin. There is, however, a price to pay, in $ and memory usage. Acqlite is a nice free alternative, but not as powerful. [alert admin]

Not freeware

I just love this *censored*tail, replacing the application name. Wonder what that would give if I reviewed Site*censored*? ;o)

Alias Disk...

...will do in 5 hours what Media Indexer can do in 5 minutes. For hard disks, I guess MI is preferable.

Does what it says

As an alternative to the "folder of folders" solution, I would suggest a look at A-Dock, an extremely well thought out app organizer that hides neatly on the right side of my screen. But the simplest way to access Applications without taking up any screen, dock or menu space at all is to make New Finder Window open Applications as a preference. It is also very fast, and benefits from Finder features (version number, size,…
