Illumination 1.5.4 (Mac OS X)

almost useless...

pathetically slow, volumes are sorted in the order they are indexed (i would prefer to sort them by myself). worst of all: after indexing volumes for quite some hours i find (after closing and opening the app) that all volume names containing any characters other than the u.s.a. crap-alphabet are crippled into illigibility! this app is just like every single app in the radical breeze portfolio: nice idea at first sight, but a pain to use. don't buy. any of them. Babelizer 2.1.0 (Mac OS X)

speaking of inadequacies...

"I speak other languages real good." isn't correct English in the first place... the application is REALLY good, though. [alert admin]

BushPanic 1.0.0 (Mac OS X)

impossible to download...

this could mean you underestimated the run on this little game in times like these... perhaps your server is being attacked... perhaps you are just getting bad service from your provider... [alert admin]

Radical Breeze 10 Pack 10/29/2004 (Mac OS X)

i miss information

... i miss information on the upgrade policy. not a word about it on the site which is quite uninformative. some of the apps are plainly useless but discblaze alone is worth the price. most apps come without proper documentation, though. [alert admin]

Shadow Plan 2.8 (Palm OS)

sorry...

i've been a very patient supporter of the (n)ongoing mac support of this app for many years... there was no support in mac os 9, but a promise for mac os x. the os x desktop app (beta) was a pain... mac os x has now come of age. stil shadow plan desktop (beta) has not been developed any further for years. now there's this new version (i wasn't informed as a registered user) i can't even try out before buying the desktop app. i'm sorry, but i can't support this any further. Mozilla Thunderbird 0.8 (Mac OS X)

clever app with silly bugs

i've been using tb for some months now. never any update issues. the reason for my migration from mail was: mail.app couldn't handle my imap account and filled it up with 1000s of recursive copies of some stray message until it exploded... tb can handle imap nicely. its a clever programme with some very silly bugs: i can't define any helper apps (eg. acrobat or other viewers). the pref for this sort of thing has preview.app as helper for tiffs, thats it. you can change that or delete it - there is *NO ADD* button! doubleklicking pdfs will for some reason always fire up classic to start acrobat reader 5, no way to change that. one other thing - but that may well be apple's fault - is, though tb is my mail client in the system prefs, hitting a mailto link in any browser will always open mail.app. [alert admin]

Gemini 2.5 PR2 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

pardon me?

Mr. Poon wrote: It was because Gemini won't copy or move same named file(s) to destination where a update to date copy is appeared. Pardon me? Is this the best answer you can give to the question regarding the impossibility of "smart replace"? What does it mean? [alert admin]

WorkingPapers 2.2.1 (Mac OS X)

works fine!

i have to update my review... there is a demo version and it worked instantly with my "update challenged" epson expression 1600 pro scanner... and would have done a fine job recognizing german text... except it won't *display* german text... i get lots of nonsense characters i have to convert from within textedit (i recommend word services very strongly - available for free!). but as the recognition is quite consistent and acurate, changing the encoding is easily done. so it's thumbs up for the quality of recognition and system integration but thumbs down for localisation... and one more thing: recognition from previously scanned tiffs (and 1bit tiffs are the only option) is very poor! SharedPlan 1.4.4 (Mac OS X)

no use

apart from not being able to save anything in the demo (making evaluation impossible) there seems something about the concept of SHARED plan i don't quite understand: you cannot SHARE plans in the personal edition, 'cause it's a single user licence, right? hmm. [alert admin]

how many years in beta...?

this is ridiculous. it could have become a very good browser but this has been in developement for so many years and still lacks the same vital functionality: css. i can't believe there will be a release version. (icab has promised the coming of the pro version for at least 5 years by now). forget icab.
