Apple Mac OS X 10.5.6 (Mac OS X)
OK So 10.5.6 installed without errors but now TimeMachine wont work. "You do not have appropriate access privileges to save file “.001f5bea210e” in folder “TimeMachine W” " Tried to repair permissions on system disk with no improvement. Great. Now what? [alert admin]

Microsoft Office 2008 12.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Office 2008: Do More? Less more like.
Why would they drop custom error bars from Excel 2008? I just checked, they are there in 2007 (ie for Windows, took ages to find them mind you, god awfull interface now). I can import an old spreadsheet from Excel 2004 which has errors calculated in cells next to each x-y data point. Is this lack of error bars to give 'parity' with Apple's Numbers which also lacks full error bars? It is getting real tough to do science on MacOSX. [alert admin]

Try This It may solve someones problem...:
I have recently solved two peoples problems with Palm Desktop conflicts the following way: Check the Startup Items in the Accounts System Pref Pane. There should only be one occurrence of Palm Desktop Background Transport Monitor Multiple instances of these will cause hassle. If doing a reinstall perhaps make sure they have all gone first so you know the correct versions of these are talking to the new version of the App. Palm Desktop. [alert admin]

Sudoku Susser 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Well this is what I call setting the standard. Everyone else who has written a Sudoku application for MacOS is probably feeling a little sick with envy now. This gem of an application looks to be everything a true addict of Sudoku could ever want. My God. Drag and drop gifs (eg from The Times web site.. other site available of course) for instant OCR and setting up of an electronic version of a puzzle. Hints, notes the lot. We are not worthy.. I have not even run it much yet... This is truly worthy of a full row of stars just on the feature list alone. Big pat on the back to the author. Nice one. [alert admin]

Ethernal 1.2 (Mac OS X)
Stop button problems can be fixed. ![]()

I too had stop button problems. I think it happens if you have used the earlier version and upgraded. The cure is to quit Ethernal and find the preferences file edu.usfca.jean.bovet.Ethernal.plist from ~/Library/Preferences/ and maybe the "Ethernal" Folder in "~/Library/Application Support/" After deleting those and relaunch it works for me. Sometimes the Search function misreports some simple searches on captured packets (for example 'xy') in that a packet is found displayed that does not in fact contain the string xy but deleting that search phrase then typing it in again finds no packets with that string. Something useful to have would be to have a way to additionally resolve some addresses to my own local table of host names or colours which can be loaded on future captures, maybe displayed as a separate column. However this is Application shows lots of promise. Keep up the good work. [alert admin]

Puzzle Express 1.0 (Mac OS X)
The trial only allowed use for less than a day actually. So I cannot see how I can recommend or give more than just a Neutral rating. So take that into account. Looked to be Good though. I downloaded this yesterday lunchtime. Today? Trial already expired. Just one go (1 launch, 4 games) during one lunch-break. Tight fisted or what? I was hoping to do at least a few lunch breaks on this before deciding to buy. From what I experienced yesterday it felt potentially addictive especially in the more varied timed mode. Maybe its a good thing. Maybe it is my machine suggesting I should catch some sun instead. I will skip it then unless they change it to let me have at least 5 lunches to decide if it is a stayer. I do register for products but I have too many I wish I had not. [alert admin]

This is just what I wanted from a ssh session launcher. Good Job. Now a little negative feedback on behalf of Jaguar users... I am using OSX 10.2.8 and v3.0.2 works just fine for me. While I appreciate that I may not actually be using some functionality of JellyfiSSH which may not work in Jaguar, I think getting a dialogue that warns me I am not using Panther (and halts the launch of JellyfiSSH up until I acknowledge the fact) every time I launch JellyfiSSH is a bit excessive. At least let Jaguar users tick a box which turns the warning off after the first viewing of the warning. Its like warning me I may be experiencing problems if using Jaguar when in fact the only problem I have is the warning I am using Jaguar. Arrg! Otherwise Excellent [alert admin]

Drag'n'tooth 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)
the coolest cold thing on a cold day in Siberia with no clothes on. I am going to register. Hope they put a T3 icon in there. The less I have to use Palm Hotsync the better. Nice. Drag'n'tooth does exactly what you want with no fuss. Drag your file to the icon (eg in the dock) Palm wakes up, transfer starts, finishes, Palm asks you if you want to accept or reject... job done. The blue pointy logo thing is a bit hmm.... klingon like? No something else Wonder-woman? I dont know. Whatever it does not 'feel' good. A bit lame but could have been a lot worse. Still that aside 5*. Apple should build this in to the OS. Works just fine on Ti 15" OSX 10.2.8 (both versions) and some unknown bluetooth usb dongle (vendor id 2578??) I have here. [alert admin]

Microsoft Office v.X 10.1.4 (Mac OS X)
10.1.4 breaks the Excel Solver add-in. I rarely use the solver except for a few weeks every year I use it with a large group of students. Now it is nearly that time of year again and I always run through the class exercise just in case... whoops... I find Solver does not work in v10.1.4 more than once per worksheet, after which the whole of Excel unexpectedly quits. Bummer, I will have to fall back to a Windows platform. (Bill punches the air for another minor victory...) [alert admin]
