Floating Clock Issue Linked to Spotlight Use

I am running Mac OSX 10.6 (Snow Leopard) and still am encountering problems. The floating clocks appear as an overlay to the screen displays of different applications. It seems to be linked to the use of Spotlight. For example, if a page in MS Word is displayed on screen and I use Spotlight, a floating clock appears over the Word file display. [alert admin]
