Web Snapper 2.3.3 (Mac OS X)

Doesn't work with Snow Leopard

Just installed Snow Leopard and Web Snapper doesn't even load, so can't be used. So now I've created various page sizes, put the print button onto the Safari tool bar... ...And, for me, it's the same functionality - taking fullscreen snapshots of a website, even secure pages. Since Web Snapper often fails to capture pages for me [BBC, The Register being notable examples], I was already on the lookout for a replacement. I don't want to run Safari in 32 bit mode, just to use software that I'm already losing patience with. It's been good. It's been simple to use. It's been something I couldn't do without. But now it's been replaced. Maybe if things change, Web Snapper will be my snapper-of-choice. [alert admin]

Calibre 0.6.6 (Mac OS X)

- WTF ?? -

Downloaded this app. Opened the app, and get a request to enter my password. WTF is that about ?? Is it an installer ?? A Trojan ?? Rubbish programming ?? I don't know, and so Calibre remains unused. [alert admin]

GarageSale 5.3.3 (Mac OS X)

- Fabulous service -

Just upgraded my Garagesale from v1.7 to v5.3.3 and had a problem with the license email [my fault for changing email address]. Sent an email to the folks at iwascoding... ...And got a response within 10 minutes !! ...At 21:30 at night [in London] !! Now that's great customer service, and definitely worth telling people about !! [alert admin]

PhotoRescue 3.1.10 (Mac OS X)

- Buyer Beware -

Warning - Purchasing this software provides a license valid for only 1 year. After that time, you must pay again to be able to update. As such, I would recommend that people DO NOT buy this program, and instead go and try any of the other photo rescue programs available. This software is good, but being forced to pay every single year to be "licensed" is just rubbish and should not be encouraged or allowed. You have been warned. [alert admin]

StuffIt Standard 2009 13.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Old, but still useful

I actually downgraded from S/deluxe 11 to S/standard 13 because I never really used the Deluxe functions [all the way from S/deluxe 5]. For $15 to upgrade, it's cheaper than many of the other Compress/Uncompress programs and none of the other applications [that I could find] have the same ease of drag'n'drop use for compressing and uncompressing - drag onto icon to compress and double-click to decompress. For some reason, almost all the compress/decompress applications seem to have gone the Windows route and create a window with the files shown, then need some other action to compress - not what want. I would use the Leopard Compress/Uncompress utility [and I rather would], but it creates individual zip files from a group of file - not much good to me. I downloaded S/standard, removed S/deluxe and have had no problems... ...So even though it's not as "powerful" as many of the other compress/decompress applications, it does what I need [compress/decompress zip files easily and quickly, with drag'n'drop simplicity] - and that's what I care about. Web Snapper 2.2 (Mac OS X)

- Wonderful again -

Seems to be working just as well as Red Snapper did. I was harsh in the past, because Red Snapper was a great, easy to use product.. ..And Web Snapper just didn't perform as well. Now Web Snapper is at the same level of functionality - a button in the Safari bar makes it 1-click simple to capture the whole page [not just the bit you see] and to capture pages that need a password to access. Plus you can change the captured image format, the default save location, etc. Thank you Tasty Apps for making this piece of software a must-have again !! With Web Snapper at this level of functionality, I look forward to hearing about and seeing the Pro version. [alert admin]

Eigenclock 0.3 (Mac OS X)

- Not Needed -

Although, it's nice to see applications to make life easier and nicer, this application is completely NOT NEEDED. You can copy'n'paste fields in the International preference pane, to put time and date information in the menu bar. Rather than use any software or hacks, using what's built into OSX is my preferred method, and it's what I've used for the last few years. There's information on how to do this at macosxhints.com, including information about this for 10.2 and 10.3.. http://www.macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20050508000838365 [alert admin]

Web Snapper 2.1 (Mac OS X)

- Authorised Websites -

There seems to have been some major steps back in functionality for this app. You now have to drag URL to a small, non-expandable window [or the dock item] before you can start downloading a website [the Safari button does not appear, as it used to with Red Snapper]. Apparently, there is a workaround, but I shouldn't need to worry about it. It no longer downloads webpages that have any sort of password access, which it used to do. This makes it pretty pointless for the use of downloading all but the most common webpages. OmniWeb does the job, Red Snapper used to do the job, printing the page from Safari does the job. If you download more than 10 webpages, you get hit with an 'Upgrade to Pro version' message, which costs nearly 3 times the [ordinary] Web Snapper price. There's no mention of this Pro version anywhere, and no explanation of what it can do, and no normal way of buying it. Come on TastyApps, get yer arse in gear !! At this rate, I've got few reasons to use Web Snapper in preference to Paparazzi or OmniWeb or just print pages. [alert admin]

Web Snapper 2.1 (Mac OS X)

- WTF -

Just been using Web Snapper to take screenshots of my router settings and have now had a message about Web Snapper Pro, and can't do anything else with Web Snapper until I reduce the number of captured screenshots !! "The standard version of WebSnapper only permits 10 pages at a time. WebSnapper Pro allows unlimited URLs / multipage PDFs." Clicking an Upgrade button, leads to an upgrade page where Web Snapper Pro costs $22 [rather more than the usual $8]. Not a problem, per se, but am slightly annoyed as no mention of Pro version anywhere that I have seen and no mention of limits in non-Pro version. Obviously [and as stated by the Developer], Web Snapper is a work in progress and more features will be added, but would be good if such things as Pro version and application limits were mentioned. But, application is still very much worth having and makes internet life much easier.. ..Tho, without a Toolbar Button and not always capturing secure websites/transactions, it has its limits - But I expect these to de sorted, as it gets developed. Web Snapper 2.1 (Mac OS X)

- Hmmm -

I don't seem to have access to the toolbar button.. ..Even though the plugin is installed, I've restarted Safari, I've looked though the Toolbar Customisation options and I've used the add/remove Safari Toolbar Button menu option. Any suggestions ?? Using Web Snapper via drag'n'drop of URLs works, so no problems using this useful and simple/straightforward piece of software. [alert admin]

Annoyingly stupid: NO UPDATES!

It seems that you haven't kept the original purchase email. It's a shame that you don\t understand that it's the purchasing website that is causing you problems [even though it's not actually a problem], not the developer. If you had, you'd just goto through the motions of re-downloading. It's a shame that all your power is in your mouth and not your brain.

Painter X working with Leopard!

Not sure the review of anyone who talks about 4 Ghz of RAM should be taken seriously. Either you have a new, unknown Mac using RAM that runs at 4x the known speed of everyone elses Mac, or you can't tell the difference between Ghz and Gb - I'm not sure which is more worrying.

Yazsoft trying to charge customers for a "free" upgrade!

Hmmm.. ..So who mentioned the free upgrade/update ?? If it was the promo, talk to them. And, to go from v4 to v5 is only about $8 - barely worth worrying about.

Usefulness of this app.

Hmmm.. ..Well a far simpler method is to save the email as a .PDF or a .RTF, and use metatags to id the information. If the email is saved as a .PDF, Spotlight will index it for you, you won't need to spend any money and you won't need to run another application. Just my thruppence worth..

The best!

Just thought I'd mention that dropping a folder onto the Disk Utility Dock item brings up a dialogue, and creates a .dmg. It's not well mentioned anywhere, but I read about it on another forum, somewhere.
