Keith 9.06 (Mac OS X)
This has been placed among the freeware; according to the developer it is a demo. [alert admin]

CalendarMenu 0.2 (Mac OS X)
Nice, simple program that allows me to configure the time format into almost infinite possibilities. Too bad this version lost the analog clock in the drop-down, but maybe it will be restored in future releases. Thanks! [alert admin]

Spanish Vocabulary Screensaver 0.9 (Mac OS X)
an excellent idea still requiring further development. I just installed and have run across unfortunate problems: 1] misspelled words - curiously, the Spanish word for 'vocabulary' is here given as 'vocabulaio' - correct spelling is 'vocabulario'. 2] missing diacritical marks - new students in particular need to see the words with the stress placed over the correct syllable and these are missing here. at any rate, all but the most casual writers include diacritical marks in the written language. 3] delayed English translation - there is scarcely a second's time between the appearance of the Spanish word and the English translation. this reduces drill effectiveness. one hopes to see the product mature with more options such as proficiency levels and categorical vocabulary lists. at this point it cannot be recommended since the editing gaffes would mislead students. Bible Buddy 1.1.0 (Mac OS X)
For offline KJV Bible research, this tool is serviceable: response times are reasonable and the bookmark feature is useful. Launching the application displays a loading window - a welcome clue as Bible Buddy comes to life. The biblical text contains only the KJV Old and New Testaments; the Apocrypha unfortunately is omitted, and thus does not contain the complete KJV text as promoted here. Finding text - case sensitive - requires a click of the mouse...hitting enter after entering search text is not sufficient, thereby adding an extra, and unnecessary, step to searches. The text display window is extremely small and neither it nor the font can be changed. Inadvertently clicking on Select All (at least in the text field) will freeze Bible Buddy, necessitating a force quit and relaunch. [alert admin]

BottomFeeder 4.3 (Mac OS X)
Download size: 18mb!
Interface: Windows 3.1 with Aqua tattoos.
Contextual menus: mostly broken.
Ability to read Chinese fonts: all scrawl.
Bug reporting option: itself a bug - message sending failed every time.
RSS import options: no mention is made of OPML, although BF did accept it.
Mac OS navigation: impossible - access only to Applications folder.
Tabbed views: little - or usually - no text appears. What's the point?
Ticker option: speed invariable despite options to change it. Clicking on ticker feed does nothing - BF doesn't open and nothing triggers browser.
Blog: editing window's icons all appear the same and can be discerned only by hovering cursor over them. No success in blogging (though to be fair, it could be the Blogger beta, even though BF stipulates an API for it). Unable to close ‘hanging’ window.
...at this point I gave up and remembered that I'm happy with the fully functional RSS tickers available on Firefox and, when necessary, a dozen other free RSS feeders (alas, none with the ticker function). Crashes often. [alert admin]

RapidoWrite 2.1 (Mac OS X)
Fails to operate after a few uses...
I reported my experience on the developer's website, received an instant response querying me about a few things, and then never heard from them again, despite my follow up. This application works for only a few times, and then fails. I have fiddled around in the preferences but to no avail. It would be a smashing application, but... [alert admin]
