Snapz Pro X 2.2.1 (Mac OS X)

NOt What They Say

As Shareware you are suppose to be able to try if for a period of time and buy is you use. They say, "Please note that this is a trial version of Snapz Pro X. It will operate as a fully functional product for 15 days." This is not true. It has the words in big blue letters that it is a demonstration. I can't really tell the quality. Don't say "full functional" and have me install only to uninstall the software. Tell me the truth. Can't trust them. [alert admin]

BabyaTV 1.5 (Mac OS X)

Works Very Good on My Mac

I just started using BabyaTV to record me sitting in front of my MacBook Pro 2.16 Ghz. running 10.4.11. It works great for audio and video using the camera in my mac. It is very small program and all you have to do select audio, then select video and then hit record. It has pause which a lot of the programs do not (REC for audio). It has a selection for DV and one for a firewire camera. It has plenty of audio and video selections for quality including frame rates. I would like it to be able to use my web browser as a source. That would be huge, but it really does not promise that. It is not buggy and is the right price. Again, I would use it everyday if it captured internet video. The controls and selections are mac type. Two thumbs up and five stars for what it does do. When they make it able to record from the web I am going to review it again. Did you hear me developer? DAZ Studio 3.0.1.144 (Mac OS X)

Trialware not freeware

This should be listed as shareware. Shareware you use and then pay. Same here. Just want to get you to use it. If you do not use shareware then you don't pay. Same here. Please recategorize your software. Freeware never requires money except a donation to use as long as you want. [alert admin]

Contenta-Converter Basic 4.5 (Mac OS X)

Not Freeware as Advertised - Trial that asks for $30, I listed alternatives.

This is a trial version which is not freeware. If they are going to mislead you in this, what do you think they will do with their promises of support? Here are some free alternatives: ResizeIt, BatchResize'em, BatchReformat'em, BatchRename'em and NameChanger. [alert admin]

iZone Internet Turbo 6.0.31 (Mac OS X)

Piling On

It says that they are freeware. They obviously have checked VT and seen they are out of line. What are they doing. Let's make it so they can never get out of the 1 star area. If they don't tell the truth about the little stuff, what do you think they will do with their customer service when you need them. Do you think they will be straight with you when they got you? FinderPop 2.2 (Mac OS X)

Works Great - Little Tip you can do.

This is one of the best Utility programs you can do. If you screen is full and you want to go into a program that is two, three or more files embedded this is the program. It is the old OS 9 pull down menu. Its is better than what Apple did in that old OS because you click anywhere the menu bar is blank and the customized menus show up. Apple should pay the developer for this one and acquire it, because when my screen is full and the file or program I want is under the open files and programs, I don't have to close stuff on the screen. Always is an issue at some point. No wonder this is a "real" 5 star. Tip: Having been a veteran mac user, with the Old OS 9, I would make an alias of the finderMenu, In this case, FinderPop Items alias, and put that alias in itself. What this does is allow you to open the pull down FinderPop menu and put your aliases in the file, by selecting the FinderPop Items alias without searching for the FinderPop Items file in the "Library" folder. Once the FinderPop Items file is open you can then move around the aliases as well as reorder them for your own customization, or remove them, or add to them, etc. My brother originally shared this with me for the old OS. Every mac should use this program. A must have. I use a MacBook Pro Intel core 2 Duo running 10.4.11 (I always like to tell this in the review, just so people can know there is no issue or potential issue with my kind of hardware) Again, I use on average more than ten times a day. Thanks, Thanks Thanks developer. Yeah, it's free, not some trial passed off as freeware. Trial software should be categorized as shareware because you have to end up paying to continue on the honor system with shareware, yet with trial ware you are forced to pay, unlike shareware. It is more restrictive than shareware so how can those other guys call it freeware? That's my soap box. What I sometimes do if I find out it is trialware (shareware which forces you to purchase or it is disabled) passed off as freeware is I give it one star. This is real freeware. [alert admin]

Bean 2.2.0 (Mac OS X)

Works Great

Have been using macs since the Mac SE close to twenty years ago. Use a MacBook Pro intel core 2 duo and 10.4.11. This software is better than AppleWorks 6 and is better than Notes for me. I have programmed in basic to a limited degree and the simplicity and flexibility of Bean is great. It has better font and style commands to name a few benefits. And this is for free??? How can I not give it 5 Stars. So far as "taking over" the default app position of your word processing, take a look at the replies to the guy that did not seek to contact the developer. I know we don't want to have to get a hold of the developer and shouldn't necessarily have to, and the developer I hope is sensitive to this. I have used Bean and after using AppleWorks 6 and Notes. It did not takeover my default. But, I am glad to refer to the good guy that responded to guy who was 'taken over." I learned from that guy and am smarter with all my apps because of it. Bean people, thank you, thank you, thank you. I want to send you money. I would be open to designing a module with you that could put you ahead of the other apps. If you were to have investment capital you could overtake NOtes (apple's WP) which is too mind cluttering complex; some of it is pocket protector work. If you are thinking about an easy program that is very versatile. This is it!! I want to thank the other posters for their comments as well. Communication is great. [alert admin]

BatChmod 1.51 (Mac OS X)

This Did Exactly What I Needed

I am on verisiontracker quite a bit. I am running 10.4.11 on a MacBook Pro Intel Core Duo. I went to the apple store and they could not help me empty the trash. I had AppleWorks 6 and did everything I could, such as change the permissions and unlock the file in the trash. The Apple guy was clueless as probably Apple was. I asked two guys "geniuses" and soon learned that for their own App on their own machine for the clippings points and other extraneous utilities that were associated with Appleworks 6 including the App itself would not empty of the trash and every time I would trash I had to keep clicking the continue button about fifteen times to trash. Sound familiar? Most of these were Apple related. Then I downloaded this program and went under the Batchmod menu selection and selected Force Empty Trash. It did it without a hitch. What is with Apple? I did nothing other than install the AppleWorks 6 more than two years ago and have struggled ever since until Batchmod. By the way people, tell us what your system. It makes it easier for the rest of us. This is absolutely a 5 Star if there every was one and the time it will save me from having to continually pressing the return key I am so thankful to Batchmod. It almost seems I a writing so much that I am with the company. I assure I am not. I am grateful to VersionTracker that I could enter the search term "trash" and find this great program. The struggle for two years is over!!!!!!!!! [alert admin]

Google white paper on predictive value of S.M.A.R.T. status

Two people in VersionTracker have specific information that this program worked for a PC. The Google study you are talking about has firmware and hardware. Their "data of experience" can be more valuable in its predictive ability then yes, Google. You say that is Google that say it was not valuable. Well, I don't think Google disagreed about what the two enlightened posters said about personal computer hard drives. The absence of…

Can't disable Jesus pop-up

You knew it said Jesus upfront. If you have such an aversion to Jesus, then why would you incite yourself knowing you would be getting something Christian? Everyone knows right away. Are you telling me that you did not know it had Jesus Christ content? I would not get a program which said secular humanist. But, I sure would be able to figure out what part of the content would be.…

1D?

Both you guys might want to be a little patient. First, 1D is easy to portray. Two, I am on the site to get educated. Three, it is not 1D, it is 1D backstripping which as a non geologist I would probably guess is something which I do not know about, except that it is portrayed in a line (1D). So far as heads of Forbes 500 companies, on average in any…

Still ok a secondary player

Why concerned with the version number. It is logically consistent. Your suggesting 0.9.9.9.9b is not a natural progression. It would be simply 0.9.9b. Think you are being a little picky?
