Twitterrific 3.0 (Mac OS X)

Looks like the developer got greedy....

The new 3.0 Twitterific now has ads at the top of the window, and keeps them there until you pay them $14.95 to make them go away. Too bad, as this was a cool little app that just worked. It is following the path of so many other cool shareware and freeware apps where the developer gets greedy after having X thousand copies downloaded, thinks he's hit critical mass with the app, and then gets delusions of grandeur (and lots of dollar $igns) in their head. Stay at 2.1, you'll be happier without the lame ads. [alert admin]

BitTorrent 4.1.7 (Mac OS X)

Don't use 4.1.7 -- revert back to 4.1.2 !!!

Tried 4.1.7 and this version started downloads but then ceased them only after a few minutes. Buggy and major CPU hog -- froze up my computer and difficult even to force-quit out of the app. This was with other apps (mail, Firefox, MSN Messenger, Versiontracker) running as well as nothing else running. Reverted back to 4.1.2 and all is well again. Highly recommend that everyone revert back to previous version. [alert admin]

Mail.appetizer 1.1b (Mac OS X)

Excellent app!

A simple, well-integrated and useful little app. Once you begin using it, you hardly realize it is there! A couple things I'd love to see: -- ability to change color of background -- ability to delete or file messages, right from the notification window Good job overall though. [alert admin]

I first paid…

for this app in November 1997, version 3.1 or so. Hasn't required additional payment until now. Absolutely stellar -- compare that to Micro$haft and other companies' once or twice yearly upgrade costs!! Stellar program, should be worth double or triple the price. [alert admin]

The fact of…

the matter is, that HP left all of us out to dry for better than 6 weeks. My recently purchased HP 7350 printer, purchased in early August, has been non-functional for printing unless I dropped down into OS9 to print -- blecch! What disgusts me, is that all of HP's competitors came out with drivers for their machines AT or shortly after Jaguar's launch. It took HP 6+ weeks to get their act together on new drivers. I am tired of the same old "Apple totally redesigned its printing subsystem with Jag" line -- the fact of the matter is, that HP was NOT on top of things for the Jag launch, and this says a lot about their relationship with Apple. I have given HP chance after chance, for years now, and their Apple products have never seemed to live up to where they should be from a support standpoint. Meanwhile competitors like Epson and Canon are wiping the floor with HP. It serves them right. It's about frickin' time HP. Get your act together next time. [alert admin]

VueScan 7.5.6 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

10.2.1 also broke…

the two latest revs of VueScan. Do you boneheads think that this issue won't be fixed, like, within the next couple of days? Anyone who rates this program below 4-stars should rot in hell. 5 stars all the way!!! [alert admin]
