Medical School Interviewer 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
I agree with "brossow". That's a sad typo; but not completely damning. As for: "DayOneMacUser: Appeared to do nothing (at least i hope so at this point!) after launching it on an up to date OS X 10.3 system. At 20k what the heck can it possibly contain other than a nasty Trojan perhaps? -one star" the question is: Is "DayOneMacUser" a paranoid sociopath, a clarvoyant protector, or a badly scalded switcher? Palm Reader 2.4 (Palm OS)
stuff for me so far:useful, lean feature set. They work great for reading any documents you create on your Mac as .txt or .rtf and then translate to .pdb files using PorDibLe (freeware translator that creates .pdb files) for Mac OS X and Palm. Just drag and drop. Any editable file formats for palm reader, or are they all read only? Palm OS 5 Sony Clie TJ 25 Mac OS X 10.2.8 Palm Desktop for Mac 4.1 [alert admin]

Dreams Connection 1.2 (Palm OS)
All good, except my installation on a Sony Clie TJ-25 with Palm OS 5 has a blank white screen on start-up. I can access the functions by tapping on the screen and fishing around: the functions appear for a fleeting second and then hide behind this white screen. Once i've tapped on the correct function, it opens normally and is visible. It almost seems obscure and dream-like. If this is intentional, it's a bit too much, making access a bit too tricky- too hard to read. If it's not intentional, is it a bug? [alert admin]

PorDiBle 3.1 (Mac OS X)
Does what it says; neatly. Thank-you PorDiBle! I don't know how else to create .pdb files, and this does it for free. It's also very lean, requiring very little RAM. Don't forget: you have to drag your rtf document and drop it on the Pordible icon. It says so right in the description of PorDiBle people; c'mon. Admittedly, after it's done converting an .rtf document, the new .pdb version won't appear until you de-select the original .rtf document by clicking anywhere. This shouldn't take long for most folks to figure out, but it does seems a little weird, and maybe the Pordible folks should say so; but still overall, 5 stars. Palm Reader Pro demo 2.4.2 reads all of these .pdb files smoothly for me. It does have a problem with certain fonts, so perhaps you should convert the rtf document to a more basic font before you convert it to .pdb. David Pogue's OS X book (the big one for Jaguar) says that you should use the TextEdit, preference to (always?) save documents as rtf, and (maybe?) never as plain text (.txt) because it opens more powerful features in text edit and M$ Word reads them and can create them, simply by choosing 'save as rich text format'. I find this quite helpful. I barely use AppleWorks anymore, because it's Carbon not Cocoa, and none of the PeeCees I use have AppleWorks for Windows. Apple's TextEdit is a splendid Cocoa (native OS X) application with total cross platform compatibility. I'm having trouble with a new Sony Clie PEG-TJ25/U running Palm OS 5.2.1, MarkSpace's the MissingSync 3.0.9, Mac OS 10.2.8, and after about 10 hours of work, no sync-o', and no comprehendo, amigo. Palm Sync executes and runs, but with no actual data transfer. Please let me know if you have any ideas. [alert admin]

perhaps it's your virus software. What operating system are you running on your PC? On your handheld? Amount of RAM, free hard drive space, defrag history of the PC, etc? Perhaps we can solve this problem without undue (*) pain and suffering. I tend to believe that there is hope. Keep smiling.

Wow, that'sa new one to lose sleep over.
No, seriously, Thank-you for the amazing insight. It never occured to me; but makes perfect sense. Just one question: how can a experienced amateur ~ ever possibly~ protect himself from this problem? RAM sellers all seem to think their's is the best, and they don't like answering strange questions about things which aren't basic spec.

Using an iBook 600MHz G3 with 8MB V-RAM (the slowest processor approved for the OS 10.3 Panther required 'Garage Band') I find Jaguar significantly more responsive that my clean install of 10.1.5 had been, way back in the dark ages of early 2003. 10.2.8 is not fast, but it is certainly faster than 10.1.5. OS X 10.1.5 worked well, but faster? ~not~ Where'd you come up with that rap; dude? I'm curious. Seriously; do tell. I'm soon…

Dude, MacHeads like you and me need to stick together; so listen to me for a second: throwing one star at these (probably) unsuspecting folks may be unfair. Often, you\'ll catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar. One star? that\'s vinegar. Yep; I know, it sucks that people are afraid not to be Microsoft\'s cattle, and the see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil attitudes of the typical Microsoft user will…
