from iTunes gives an error -3 "SR_ERROR_INVALID_URL". Using the built-in tuner works fine, but I can't get ones like Brando radio in the Talk section to work. Maybe something about the redirection url? set my samba connection, but when connecting from my WinXP machine off our NT Domain, it prepends my domain before my username. So if I type in "fred" and my password when I try to connect to my ibook, XP waits a second, then returns the dialog again with "MCDNYfred" and the password filled in. I tried changing the MCDNY domain part to my ibook's name for sharing "bebop" but that doesn't work either. Any ideas? Nothing in the documentation on connecting from a computer on a NT domain. could come with anacron and an anacrontab editor as well. Anacron is like cron, but runs at intervals instead of set times, making it great for laptops. So you can have a daily task, and anacron will check every 15 minutes to see if the daily task has been run in the last 24 hours. If not, it'll run automatically. Still, this is a great gui for crontab. [alert admin]

Simple cURL 0.4.1 (Mac OS X)
I don't use curl (partial to wget myself) there are a lot of features these downloaders have. Wget can download an entire website with one command, change all the image calls from absolute (/images/file.gif) to relative (../images/file.gif) which makes it easy to browse and modify a local copy without having to maintain the same site root. There's a lot of powerful features in wget & curl beyond just downloading and saving a single file. [alert admin]

thinking of anacron, not cron. Anacron can be installed with fink, and it will run cron jobs over a certain interval whenever the computer is on (like check if a script has run in the past 24 hours when the computer is on, if not then run it). I use anacron with my ibook, and it works great. But anything that makes it easier for users to maintain their computer is fine in my book. [alert admin]

comments - the initial SSH queries about host keys for an unknown host are impossible to read, as only a tiny portion of the message is displayed with a text box and an ok & cancel. If you would display the full text it would really help a lot with initial connections. Otherwise, once that's setup it works very well. [alert admin]
