SqueezeCenter 7.2.1 (Mac OS X)

Squeezebox concept

I like this product and am using 2 Squeezeboxes, the current model in the living room and the 1st generation in the bedroom. I'm not sure the window dressing that occurred on the web interface was an improvement when Logitech took over SlimDevices, but I hugely appreciate the continued updates, bug fixes, and feature roll outs that are taking place. I wish I knew why my iTunes library does not fully scan into SqueezeCenter, I've spent my requisite time debugging the problem. I also wish my gentle prodding on the future of the devices was heeded: don't compete with Apple, make these products complement iTunes. Until protected AAC is supported, I'm always looking for an album that won't play. Let me control the squeezebox from iTunes so I don't have to learn another interface. Where I select speaker output, I need to be able to say 'squeezebox living room'. I then want the audio to go through an associated airport express to solve the protected AAC problem, but use the squeezebox only as a 'what's playing' display. Of course as well as all the other neat things it does. Could use their remote to control as well as an iPhone/iTouch under the 'Remote App' (this is just awesome). Anyway, my two cents. I'm just afraid the Remote app will eventually kill this product. Why spend $300+ on one of these devices, when you get everything for free through the remote app? The high quality DAC and optical out are sweet, but not when the song I want is protected and can't make it out the backpanel. OK, my 3 cents. [alert admin]

ReceiptWallet 2.0.0 (Mac OS X)

v2.0 Upgrade

In following the beta versions of ReceiptWallet, it was clear that 2.0 is a major upgrade. Among many, many welcome changes, the inclusion of Document Wallet into the program adds one stop shopping for adding receipts and non-receipt related information. I was fully expecting this to be a paid upgrade, and was prepared to contribute again. The fact that it was release as a free upgrade to existing users solidly underlines the developer's commitment to the user base. This is a first class program and company. [alert admin]

Indigo 2.0.0b14 (Mac OS X)

No PowerLinc V2 Upload Support

I expected PowerLinc V2 upload support in version 1 based upon vendor emails and web site. Didn't happen. Isn't happening in v2! I thought this was an Insteon app. Won't be upgrading until it does (check that, at $90 upgrade, should say won't repurchase until it does). [alert admin]
