iGetter X 2.6.1 (Mac OS X)
Couldn't download files or deactivate iGetter ![]()

iGetter [free version] for a few thing was extremely fast - I'm talking about 1200 kps! Seriously. BUT when I placed an online order for and upgrade to Peak Pro 5 and got to the download page, there were big problems. iGetter showed it was trying to download, but Status just showed "waiting" and so after a few attempts I quit iGetter, having turned off Auto first. But then, firefox 2.003 kept opening iGetter and transferring the attempted download to it. Even when I moved iGetter to the trash [ without emptying it] Firefox or my Mac still opened it to try to download with it! I finally uninstalled iGetter, using the uninstaller that they provide. Only then could I download my newly paid for software. My conclusion is that iGetter has a lot of potential but some big bugs. Maybe I'll try the Speed Download shareware once I lose my fear from being burnt once. [alert admin]

Ping Pong Delay AU 2.0.6 (Mac OS X)
Expert sleepers produces tons of free plugins for audio and some that they sell also. Given that they do SO MUCH work for nada, I don't complain about the lack of a fancy GUI. Just thank you very very much is what I have to say. Search under Expert Sleepers for their many useful free products. [alert admin]

Multitap Delay AU 1.0.5 (Mac OS X)
Expert Sleepers produces many great AU plugins for audio. I have downloaded and used them for years. And that's the truth, people. [alert admin]

Altiverb 6.0.2 (Mac OS X)
Altiverb is praised universally by all the audio professionals I know. And that is dozens. No, I don't own it myself, but if I come into some money, I know it is a good choice. [alert admin]

Hendrickson's character reference
I've been using a similar software developed by this man for several years now, called SpamX. He updates the app frequently, always responding incredibly quickly to users' requests on his forums. I've seen criticism on Version Tracker and can only suspect that these might be from developers of competing softwares. If I'm wrong about the origin of the criticisms, please forgive me, but I've only seen good things from Mr. Hendickson. I haven't tried Emailcrx yet, but only because I'm still doing fine with his old program SpamX. Sincerely, Frank Fitzpatrick [alert admin]

VueScan 8.3.63 (Mac OS X)
Haven't downloaded the latest version yet. There are so many free updates to this great program! It makes scans so much better and gives you many more options than plain TWAIN. Well worth the price. The developer is always working on this app. ALWAYS. Get it! [alert admin]

No instructions; wiped out my history. ![]()

There are no instructions with Mdict. It seems like it would be very useful, but the programmer does not understand that people can not guess how to use the features. I tried out the program for a week and ended up overwriting the "history" by saving a new version. No instructions equals little value. [alert admin]

I just bought the Pro version to use in a multimedia performance I am creating. I was unclear how to create layers so I called Cort, who explained it and then added the info to the brief manual he provides. Also, I asked if layers could be repositioned, but for the moment, they could not. Cort said he'd add this feature to the program. He did. And it took him TWO DAYS to do so! This is a very handy program that does just what it says. [alert admin]

Discus has easy to find icons and an easy to use interface. GOOD, isn't this? I have been a professional user of Mac audio and notation software for 18 years. And I am a composer and school music teacher. I have stopped buying some music software because of the tiny print and microscopic icons used. I'll even be specific: MIDIfork and SpongeFork were two potentially useful programs that I junked after purchasing, and never paid…

"Explore the web site" OK, yes, but Ableton should STILL post on versiontracker what bugfixes the new updates contain - like 99% of the other programmers do!
