Still Life 2.3.3 (Mac OS X)
I think it's exactly what I'm looking for. I do a lot of pan and zoom stills in iMovie, but iMovie's Ken Burns Effect is pretty limited and accelerates very oddly at the end of clips. Any opinions on Still Life vs. Photo to Movie? PS: I'd give it 5 stars if it rendered just a wee bit faster. [alert admin]

Cocktail 3.5.2 (Mac OS X)
...apps I've purchased. It does what it sets out to do and does it very well. I often read about the various and sundry problems people have when updating to new versions of OS X, for instance, but I've never experienced a one of them, and I chalk that up to regular use of Cocktail for system maintenance. Griffin iTrip Station Finder 2.0 (Mac OS X)
Good luck using it in a metro area
The iTrip and the iTrip Station Finder are a good idea for anyone who lives in the sticks, in a small town, etc. But in a large metro area like Southern California, for instance, it is next to useless. The Apple Store in San Diego sells a lot of them (apparently) and I imagine all of them sit unused in people's glove boxes... Even if the Station Finder finds unused stations, there will be so much static from cross-over (especially from Mexican FM stations) that the iTrip is rendered unusable. What I really need is a car stereo with a mini or RCA input connector... Then I could forget about an iTrip or cassette adaptor (which are PITAs, although more reliable than the iTrip). [alert admin]

iView MediaPro 1.4 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
can understand not changing the version number or not indicating it in the about resource (although I don't agree with the practice), but the file date? The release engineer would have had to actually set the modification date back to Jan. 10. What's the benefit of that? [alert admin]

QuarkXPress 5.01 (Mac OS 9)
rocks," you mean it's slow (to startup, print, display pages, etc.) and flakey (PDF export), then yeah, I agree with you 100%! InDesign rocks. QXP rules. Always been that way, always will be. [alert admin]

AppleWorks 6.2.3 (Mac OS 9)
that download connections can be frustrating, but we're rating the product/update, not the website it comes from. And it's not that low ratings based on side issues might be unfair to the company releasing the product/update -- they're unfair to VT users who might use these ratings when considering a product. AppleWorks 6.2.3 (Mac OS 9)
I'm giving "three thumbs down" to all the people who can't figure out how to download software from the internet, and who then rate the software as poor, without having used it yet. I was able to download and install it effortlessly. This update qualifies as "Great." The ability to read Word and Excel docs now gives me reason to jettison Office. AW is a very useful program for home and home-office use. [alert admin]

FontLab 4 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)
font editing application available. Macromedia hasn't updated Fontographer since Bush Sr. was President, but FontLab has been continuously improved and upgraded. This is truly a first class piece of software. [alert admin]

Digital Design Buddy 2.5 (Mac OS 9)
This is a cool and useful little reference tool. And to jwilko, there is a utility for computing metric units: "Calculator" (it's under the Apple menu). But seriously, metric units aren't typically notated in fractions, such as 11/16ths for example, which makes working with them considerably easier and obviates the need for a decimal equivalents tool.
