X11 2.3.3 (Mac OS X)
Tried to launch the .pkg and it popped up a message that you first have to have installed OS X 10.5.7. Hmmmm. [alert admin]

Mozilla Firefox 3.1 beta 3 (Mac OS X)
I got a lot of spinning beachballs and when scrolling it hangs and jumps. Even worse, when I went back to beta 2 (which is excellent), all my saved passwords had disappeared ! Thank f*** for Time Machine. [alert admin]

No more left-hand speaker only when listening to mono streams such as BBC 5 Sports Extra. Good. [alert admin]

Connect360 3.3 (Mac OS X)
Will not work with EyeTV sharing enabled
Unfortunately you cannot run Connect360 and EyeTV sharing simultaneously. Even more annoyingly simply disabling sharing in EyeTV temporarily will not work; you have to reboot. I'm guessing there is precisely zero chance of Microsoft changing the ports that the 360 uses so unless Elgato either change theirs or give you an option of selecting alternative ones, there's just no way of running the two apps simultaneously which is a real shame. Xiph QuickTime Components 0.1.5 (Mac OS X)
Running 10.3.9 and QT 7.0.4 FLAC files will not open with QT: "QuickTime cannot open the file: "Don't Be Like That.flac" it is not a file that QuickTime understands (-2048)" The FLAC to iTunes script works beautifully but will only convert the first track in a folder: "A descriptor type mismatch ocurred" I made sure to restart after installing the .pkg. 3.5a3 crashes immediately upon running
I don't know what comes before an alpha release but this is definitely one of them.

I can only assume you're not capping your total upload stream (about 65-70% of theoretical maximum is about right). 10 concurrent downloads is spreading yourself too thin IMO and certainly any BT tracker admin's but if you're a determined leecher there's no reason why you can't d/l at close to your maximum if the particular swarms you're in support it. I've never used Transmission but I'll bet it caps your upstream out of the…

It does do things that cant be done for free
I believe Machacha has a maximum chunk size of 1.95 gigs but I'm not aware of a ceiling for joined files.

I think it might be better always to put the all important ogg- in front of the FLAC if that's the case :-) snoogly - I did searh on my system for anything with FLAC in the name after installation and came across a new script in iTunes, which must have been installed with the whole package. It seemed like the answer to my prayers...flaac keeps the tags but uses faac and Toast uses…

still can't repair permissions
I took the route of dropping the iTunes application on Trim The Fat to remove the Intel binary that stuffs things up. iTunes 6.0.2 always functioned effectively after the procedure and 6.0.3 is fine so far.

Right, I connected to my main machine from a G3 iMac running Tiger via the Go menu and mounted the image with Toast 6.1.1. The image mounted correctly and was able to transfer the drive image back to the main box and it's loading (s.l.o.w.l.y) so all seems well. I'm presuming that the other successful users are also running Toast 7.X which leaves Panther as the most probable cause of my former woes.

If I mount it with Toast 7.0.2 (running under OS X 10.3.9)I get two disc images, both called Kubuntu_510.vpc7, both of which give the error "Item "" is used by Mac OS X and cannot be opened". I've tried cd'ing to the image and ls says there's something called Kubuntu_510.vpc7 but I can't cp or mv it anywhere.

I see. Surely a tested, zipped image would've still been a better solution ?

Still no go I'm afraid. Can I be sure that it's 100% safe to install the pref pane manually ? Thanks for the response.
