ChronoSync 3.3.1 (Mac OS X)

poor support experience

I have used ChronoSync for about 8 months. Worked GREAT for about 7, then it started showing errors in the log and skipping several hundred files. I tried everything I could to figure it out on my own. I read the "Help" which is skimpy on troubleshooting, as is their website. Two weeks ago today, I contacted tech support with a detailed explanation of my situation, including an excerpt from the error log. I have gotten two emails back asking for more info (each with several days of lag time) and answered them promptly. Still no suggestions on fixing the problem and I have not heard from them in four days now. This is sync software that I rely on regularly for important documents and if it doesn't work AND I can't get help sorting out the problem, I can't recommend it. [alert admin]

Amazing

This is so cool. It's like Amazing Slow Downer but better-lots more you can do with it. Hope it ends up being not as overpriced as ASD. [alert admin]

Delibar 0.8 (Mac OS X)

if only

it works great but if you have 100s of tags it is time consuming to get to what you want (scroll, scroll, scroll). now, if you could pull down a CLOUD of tags, that would be something. [alert admin]

Inkscape 0.43.4 (Mac OS X)

too good

Inkscape is a fantastic drawing program and easy to use. I didn't know squat about X11 but it's easy enough to figure out. FYI, for Tiger you need to install X11 from your install disc. The download from apple.com is an old version that doesn't seem to work on Tiger. [alert admin]

Will not open

NNW will not launch for me in 10.3.9. It shows up in the Dock for half a sec and then it's gone. Tried trashing prefs and app support folders and still no luck... Anybody else? I'm excited to try the new features though. [alert admin]

RapidWeaver 3.2.1 (Mac OS X)

great

I was trying to decide between Sandvox (tried it) and iWeb (just played with it at the Apple store). Only tried RapidWeaver on a lark, and so glad I did. Excellent in every way. [alert admin]

Bookit 3.6 (Mac OS X)

ok, but...

Bookit is very cool, but even crusty old URL Manager Pro now supports Shiira and NetNewswire. C'mon Bookit, you've got me once you can add these two to the roster. [alert admin]

think you may be missing the point

Hey, if it's my error, that's fine with me. And as I said, it worked great for me in a variety of situations as well. My comment is regarding the lack of help in fixing whatever problem it is. Two weeks of s l o w responses from Econ without an inkling of a solution or suggestion of how to get things back to running well is not cool for a…

filing vs tagging

thanks but that doesn't really help. that method assumes that i know the name of the tag that holds the link i want, which is kind of the same as filing, isn't it? if i wanted to "file" all my bookmarks i wouldn't use delicious. the concept with tagging is that i don't have to file meticulously, i can find what i want by looking at a group of desciptive tags that are meaningful…

No upgrade price?

Actually, it's 17.95 to upgrade and free if you bought the previous version after 1/1/05. You should call them and see if they will cut a deal for your bulk license, I would be surprized if they didn't.

I also have a number of applications crash daily...

The "line of reasoning" set off my humor detector, especially in light of the posts that preceded it. Please make sure APE has not crashed the humor detectors. If somebody thinks something is causing a crash, they should simply remove it. If the crash is gone, don't reinstall the item. I don't think anybody "needs" APE. I've had it going forever and don't notice any problems, maybe I'm just lucky, maybe not.
