LameSecure 0.80 (Mac OS X)
Firstly, if you search for LameSecure in the VersionTracker search box you will find nothing. That is a bug in VersionTracker. Secondly, the url to download LameSecure v0.8 is http://web.mac.com/kwegibu/iWeb/Gorman_Christian/Software.html. The VersionTracker link does not work. The review: I love LameSecure. I have used it for a couple of years and it works just fine. It hides files from the casual user and it is quick - no decryption. Perfect for my needs. I would love to have Christian would finish it up produce a 1.0 and I would like to see it as a Universal Binary ... please. [alert admin]

HandBrake 0.7.1 (Mac OS X)
For the first time I can rip my DVDs onto my mac In one step (to watch when I travel). Its never been easier or faster for me. I don't have to deal with multiple programs. The 2 pass XviD output quality is great. [alert admin]

NotePad 2.1 (Mac OS X)
NotePad is great and I use it all the time. I would like to see it as a Universal Binary though. Its the only program I run everyday that still shows up as PowerPC on Activity Monitor and it slows down the Dashbard initial load as Rosetta kicks in. [alert admin]

Dockyard 1.5 (Mac OS X)
Does not work with Tiger Fast User Switching
This is a great utility that I used everyday. However, in Tiger, either it or Menu Enabler Extra hangs the right hand side menu (Clock, FUS and Spotlight) when there are two users logged in using FUS. [alert admin]

FireStarter FX 1.0b7 (Mac OS X)
Firestarter works great for me. It copies disks that Toast and other burners can't. I created a backup copy of my "protected" NavTech disc using my Powerbook. Previously I had to use Nero or Alcohol 120% on a PeeCee. Set up was hit-and-miss and I had to try various combinations of raw and other drivers. I would like Firestarter to detect the burner model and have presets for various Apple models. The functionality is simple but effective. This is a great burner and I would like to see more technical copy features that match Nero, Alcohol 120% or CloneCD. Leave the fancy movie compression stuff for the other burners. Keep Firestarter hard core. Now I can use my NavTech CDs in my car knowing if the disc gets damaged I can always burn another. Thanks Firestarter! [alert admin]

Belkin UPS Bulldog 3.0.2 (Mac OS X)
How to get Bulldog working in Mac OS X 10.3.4
Here is the bug I filed with Belkin Tech Support today: Symptom: Bulldog software fails to connect to UPS device if launched by user, Bulldog software *will* connect to UPS device if automatically launched by UPS device attachment. Cause: Bulldog software cannot communicate to daemon processes (upsd and ioupsd) unless launched as user 'root'. User launch of Bulldog causes Bulldog to belong to user not 'root'. Device attach will launch Bulldog under 'root' like upsd and ioupsd. Workaround: Do not launch Bulldog from Finder. Detach and attach UPS device to launch Bulldog. Kinda like using a hand-crank to start your Mac! Doesn't seem like a real solution to me but may be acceptable to Belkin. [alert admin]

Not everyone who want to run Windows on a Mac play games. Some, like me, use Parallels to run Windows XP and Office so that we can use Outlook and Excel (with macros). For that, it is the perfect solution that offers 100% compatibility. Thanks Parallels.

How to get Bulldog working in Mac OS X 10.3.4
BTW. This is Bulldog 3.0.3 from the Belkin website. I have not run it long enough to tell if this version has a memory leak.
