Microsoft Office 2008 12.1.1 (Mac OS X)
I've just installed the MS Office 2008 update on two different Macs; a G4 Powerbook and a G5 iMac and while it was slow, it did work just as it was supposed to. I don't understand why other users are having such serious problems. I would suggest simple patience....the installer is very slow. [alert admin]

Opera 9.5b2 (Mac OS X)
This release of Opera 9.5 b2 looks a lot better than its rather woeful predecessor. However, I noticed that AIM contacts not does not load in gmail, but doesn't even appear as a box! This is a problem. [alert admin]

Nisus Writer Pro 1.1 (Mac OS X)
With the availability of making comments and with its new merge feature, Nisus Pro has really become THE Mac word processor. I really have made productive use of its terrific built-in thesaurus, great style controls and rather attractive interface. High recommended. [alert admin]

iCab X 4.0 (Mac OS X)
Really Outstanding but NOT shareware
I have been iCab 4 for less than two days, but so far it appears to be a browser of choice. Incredibly fast, pleasant to look at and very customizable. Just one correction. Versiontracker lists iCab as "Free" it is not. iCab is shareware and the developer requests a payment of $25.00 for use. [alert admin]

Leopaque 1.0 (Mac OS X)
The transparency feature fails to work in many Macs, such as my iMac G5. I like the transparency. Can anyone come up with an application that can correct this? [alert admin]

Outside 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Outside has a very limited number of location choices. Its preferences only allows for the selection of larger cities. You cannot select by zip code, like many other similar applications. If you live in a larger city, it can be useful, but if not, no so much. There are plenty of other very similar apps out there with greater selectivity and more information. [alert admin]

Shiira 2.1 (Mac OS X)
This version of Shiira is greatly improved over previous versions. First off, everything works. That was not my experience with prior versions. The full screen feature is fantastic. Terrific bookmark controls. It also appears to be extremely fast. I have used Firefox and Safari for years and I believe that this current version of Shiira beats both of them. Very definitely worth a try. [alert admin]

Shiira 2.0 (Mac OS X)
I just downloaded Shiira....and I was unable to open a window. Only the menu appeared, but no window. This has been a very interesting product, but something is very screwy with this latest release. [alert admin]

I just can't understand comments like this one. I have had absolutely no trouble with Opera 9.5. I would be curious if the user has any haxies installed, such as APE. These often cause installation problems.

absolutely valid criticism of an otherwise fine word processor. Until Mellel has this feature it cannot fully compete with Word....
