TrueBlur 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Impossible to contact developer

As other people have reported online, the developer Fixerlabs often does not respond to customers. We have sent 3 emails over the last 2 months and had no response. The telephone number for the company on VersionTracker is disconnected. The telephone number on their current WHOIS information is disconnected. We have called 3 times the telephone number currently listed on their website www.fixerlabs.com, each time we received an answering machine. We left a message each time and no one has returned our calls. We messaged them through the webform on their website and also left feedback on their feedback form. We have not had any reply. We contacted Computers Unlimited their UK distributor who are listed on their website as the current UK distributor of their products. They say they do not currently distribute any Fixerlabs products and cant remember when they last did it was so long ago. The person listed as their contact at Computers Unlimited has not been with the company for some time. We needed to speak to Fixerlabs regarding our licence and because we quite liked the product and were recommending it to our colleagues and clients. Unfortunately we cannot use the products we purchased as we cannot contact them about our licence. Clearly now we will no longer be recommending their products purely on the basis they do not seem to care about their customers. We are a professional media company and have dealt with many small and large software companies and have always had a response or been able to contact other companies. We would recommend that if you wish to use these pretty good applications from Fixerlabs that you bear in mind the problems contacting the company and the lack of up to date information on their website. File Buddy 9.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Does not reply to emails from registered users...

As a registered user of filebuddy who finds it an essential part of our workflow we are disappointed that the developer completely ignores emails from registered users who cannot use the software in Leopard 10.5 because of bugs. We sent 5 emails and haven't even had an acknowledgement from SkyTag software. We also notice the last update to the software is now nearly a year ago. This doens't give me confidence that the developer is taking much interest in FileBuddy or its paying customers. Complaints about customer service aside we should note the technical issues... The software does everything with files you could conceivably want it to do. It is the best product for finding duplicates and performing manipulation of huge quantities of files. That being said it crashes a lot under Leopard. Specifically droplets, which are one of the main features of the program do not work under Leopard they crash whenever they are launched. If you look at the running processes on the machine you can see that FileBuddy is running as an Intel app on our Intel machine but the droplets are still PowerPC apps this may be contributing to the crashes in some way. I cannot think of another piece of software we can replace FileBuddy with that will do what we need, so we will have to stick with it even though the developer clearly doesn't care about his customers any more. Why?

Talk about sweeping statements.. I need to check more than 20 a day to update my address book. It's not more than likely anyone needing to do this is a telemarketeer. Point taken about the requirements for list cleaning for marketing etc. But don't dismiss a useful product because of this and dont insult all customers with a legitimate need for more than 20 searches a day.
