VLC Media Player 0.9.8a (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)
Hold up against any of the "Big Boys" media players. 
Well worth checking out if you're looking for a versatile multimedia player that doesn't hog all your resources with needless "crap" running in the background. Controls and adjustments may take a little getting used to, but they're all there and functioning. If you're looking for a great alternative to winamp, divx, windows media player, cyberlink, or quicktime, this is the program. [alert admin]

Couldn't disagree more. Having tried them all, VLC is quite impressive for the size. Plays everything I've thrown at it, without so much as a stutter. Controls take a little getting use to but they all do.
