ffmpegX 0.0.9t (Mac OS X)
I used to really love this tool, but it is just such a hassle to upgrade from one version to the next because it isn't GPLed, and there's an update to it about once a week. If ffmpegX was licenced under the GPL there wouldn't be this problem. [alert admin]

Proteus 4.12 (Mac OS X)
this violates the GPL. I once used Proteus but really has become s**tware next to Adium, which is not only free of charge, free as in freedom, but also free of ethically-questionable software licencing schemes. Aww, so poor Proteus wants to use libgaim, but doesn't want to make Proteus itself free. Screw that; Adium here I come. [alert admin]

Acquisition 118.3 (Mac OS X)
Everyone I know has switched to the open-source Cabos (http://cabos.sourceforge.jp). It's just as simple, free, often works better than Acq does, and hey, doesn't violate the GPL like Acq does. How about that... [alert admin]

Colloquy 2D16 (Mac OS X)
...and the default font isn't monospaced. what an abomination. and lots of little windows all over the place. at least xchat keeps things organised in one window, with simple tabs at the bottom...oh yeah, and this has EMOTICONS. just....wow. way to turn IRC into AOL; this joins ms comic chat in the irc client hall of shame. XChat 1.0 (Mac OS X)
This is a TOTALLY misleading name. There is already a program called XChat, and it's a well-known IRC client (the Mac OS X version is called X-Chat Aqua). I guess this is nice, but it seems to just do what iChat's Rendezvous functionality does, and that doesn't even require OS X Server. What's the deal? [alert admin]

DepecheX 1.0 (Mac OS X)
I'm really not sure why this is shareware. It seems like there are many other programs that offer similar functionality, and more, for free. Take XMPP/Jabber, for instance. [alert admin]

skiTunes 0.3 (Mac OS X)
Considering this has been out for a mere couple of weeks, I think it's shaping up to be decent software. [alert admin]

Snowflakes 1.0 (Mac OS X)
Not bad, though the amount of CPU this thing uses is insane. I think you need to cut the CPU down to 10% or less, which is totally possible, of course. Also, I want to make the snowflakes fall slower. I know there's an option in preferences, but they still don't go slow enough. Blowing from side to side would be nice. I'd also want to adjust the transparency and size. [alert admin]

X-Headers 1.0a1 (Mac OS X)
Still a bit buggy. Text entry is odd, and I occasionally have to wipe all of the custom headers in order to delete just one. This really should be a preference option right in Mail! —Eoban [alert admin]

PithHelmet 0.7 (Mac OS X)
This is hands-down one of the best pieces of software I've ever had the privilege of using. —Eoban [alert admin]
