Apple Safari 3.1.2 (Mac OS X)
Why Did Apple Remove Global Find in Safari??
Just can't understand why Apple has to muck up a good thing... Just upgraded to 3.1.2... and I shouldn't have! For example, searching in BookMarks - you could use CMD-F to search "ALL" folders in bookmarks... instead of using Safari's version of having to search each folder one-by-one. Now in 3.1.2 you can no longer use Global Find and are restricted by having to use the one-by-one folder search option... Bad Apple - BAD. [alert admin]

PhoneDirector 1.2.6 (Mac OS X)
Just short of being excellent! ![]()

This program is just short of being excellent! It was just what I was looking for... and then some!! 6300 Nokia Model RM-217, Firmware: V 05.50 Delivers what it promises. Phone and SIM back up of numbers works well. SMS transfer - A GEM !! To be able to back up/archive SMS messages from the phone to the computer is a handy feature - laid out in its own database and PhoneDirectory provides it's own Radio - updated channels. Worked. Gallery - pix/video/etc., transefers, works. Processing files to your phones format works well... processing speed is somewhere between good and fast. Importing should be part of the GUI instead of a menu - but this is more my pref and most people don't mind selecting from the File menu each time. Log - can save list - but doesn't list each tracked call in a saved file. Viewable in the program. Would be nice if this was improved - and a very handy feature. To Do - list - needs to be imported. Works well within the program if using the dialog box to create a TO-ITEM. However for iCal - you have to import the file from the FILE menu. It would be better if this was part of the TO-DO GUI as a button, for example. Cosmetic problem: In the To-Do Alarms - the AM/PM listing is not visible - you can still choose the AM or PM - it's just not "visible" - so this is more of a cosmetic issue. (Have contacted Developer with screenshots). Calendar Events/Dates on the phone can be easily transferred to iCal as individual items (if so desired) - by simply dragging from PD into iCal. Transfers with alarms (check w/notes). Calendar - syncs - but it's a bit of work each time. To transfer MEETING, CALL, BIRTHDAY, MEMO and REMINDER - you have to import each one separately. The program won't allow a batch import. I ASSUME that the NOKIA transfer protocol doesn't allow the multiple transfer... however... if I am wrong... then this part of the transfer needs to be improved. When importing calendar - the setting needs to be from the "day before" - that is the setting needs to be set to the day before the day you want the calendar to start in your phone. Themes building is cool. It's not part of the demo - so can't say it works fully... "The building of themes" panels seem easy enough to create themes. Recording Audio sound message using inline microphone - remember to stop speaking a second before hitting the stop recording button... otherwise the end of your message will be truncated. If you have a NOKIA phone - and "IF" this software supports it - you'll be happy with what this software can provide. The demo allows for testing most of it each features - so give it go... Senuti 0.33 (Mac OS X)
It works... that's all you need to know! ![]()

Senuti works... the only CAUTION I would give is setting up your PREFS for what you want to achieve... read the opions (a couple of minutes) and make the choices that you want. You could accidently overwrite tracks - but then this is the case with other programs similar to this. Great program and thanks to the developer for keeping this up-to-date.... [alert admin]

BusySync 2.1.1 (Mac OS X)
BusySync works well - despite Google calenders limitations. It took sometime to work out why appt's were out of time-sync... setting the correct time-zone in Google fixed that - after this - appt's were syncing correctly time-wise. Google doesn't list TO-DO's from iCal - and this limitation can be a let down. However, the notification features of Google are useable - not good or great(!) just useable. For now - I am still publishing my calendar from iCal into: http://www.icalx.com icalx has a fairly decent calendar layout and TO-DO lists as well as forward listings are displayed. BusySync - for those that need to use Google or local network display/access - is worth the look and the price for "a preference pane" might be a little bit too expensive - but for what it offers - it'll be okay for most people to purchase... Well done to the developer. [alert admin]

Similar to the previous comment - 1.21 won't launch. I can't test the "opening torrents" because this version won't launch. I have been using 1.06 for a couple of months now and it has been working well - other than a couple of small glitches... Transmission is also a great alternative for DL single or small files instead of opening up Azureus... although Azureus has other features - Transmission has provided enough to make it contender ... until this version. I went back to 1.06 today - and 1.06 is working fine... [alert admin]

Freeway Pro 5.1.1 (Mac OS X)
Both Freeway and Flux need a lot more work... ![]()

To add to what "ylon" has previously stated - Freeway, IMHO, needs more work. I have tried it. Put out a couple of sites... but the program was painfully slow. Had it's share of bugs and problems. Flux suffered from similar problems. Both programs are a start to filling the gap in this market... however - they both require a lot more work... serious work: you're back to Dreamweaver! For someone who just has the odd or occasional website to put up every now and again - both Freeway and Flux are the ideal choice - you won't do it in a hurry - but both interfaces will guide you through (even if they have their faults). iCab - is getting better. Some webpages still do not load correctly. One site is a major site - major corporate sponsorship, and will not load as one would expect - however it loads well in FireFox and SeaMonkey - but in iCab the site just sits there, motionless!! Those addresses I have sent to the developer. Try this version out. Some of the features are good. Still needs a lot more work before it will replace any of the current three browsers I use. BannerZest 1.0 (Mac OS X)
This program has some promise... if you can get it to work reliably every single time. The web files that were produced with this program - sometimes worked - sometimes didn't. The themes are very good and work with the pix in preview/program mode. Once exported to your site the files sometimes play, sometimes don't. [alert admin]

Flux 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)
The idea of this program is good - not great - but workably good.... EXCEPT FLUX is slow, very slow. Their own CSS provided TEMPLATES - didn't validate. Too many errors. Selecting was okay - but slow. Documentation differs from what they have on their website. So use their website help - rather than the supplied Help file with the program. Also - their website doco is inside their website - which has a very small window - and quite annoying to navigate - but to get questions answered - you're better off at their website. Their website screams that the program is out of beta - my opinion is that this program still has a long way to go - so I'll restate this differently: This program has potential - just needs a lot more work !!! Also - if you're running 10.4.11 - you need to install: Mac OS X 10.4.11 w/ Security Update 2008-002 Not sure if that will work for people on 10.4.11 - but worth a try.

Depends on the .wma file you have. I tried this with several .wma files in both QTPro and Toast - and neither program could open the .wma file in order to convert it. However, VLC had no problem playing the file and neither did Win.Media.Player.
